Port took more dives than Swan like tonight - actually looked like a coaching tactic
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

5. Rance and Dixon go head-to-head

It was refreshing to see a one-on-one contest between Port Adelaide's monster forward Charlie Dixon and the best full-back in the business Alex Rance for most of the match. Dixon has been under fire following a lean start to the season and won an early wrestling contest in the first quarter. Rance gave away a free kick for a holding decision in the third term but his Power opponent didn't make him pay. Dixon finished with 13 possession, four contested marks and kicked a goal while Rance had 17 disposals and three contested marks as well. An even battle that footy purists would’ve loved.

The four-time All-Australian finished the match with 17 disposals, including 10 contested possessions, 10 intercepts, six marks and 304 metres gained. And he ensured that Dixon didn’t add to his one-goal tally after quarter-time.

Dixon used his bulk to crash packs and still be a handy contributor throughout the night for the home team, but Rance took the points in an absorbing, good, old-fashioned one-on-one duel.

Monumental announcement. One day we'll be telling our children and grandchildren about this guy.
He's the Jack Dyer or Royce Hart for the generation that missed out. Enjoy the extra time people, I know I will

Buddy really only kicked 1 goal. Was gifted 3.

2 were the non pushes that he was awarded.

The other should’ve been a free to Rance for being shirtfronted body checked 10 meters behind play and didn’t allow Rance to contest. Buddy gets an easy mark 45 metres out.

Buddy renews Rance rivalry

It was the contest everyone came to see – the game's best forward against its best defender. But while Lance Franklin might have got the better of Alex Rance, both certainly had their moments. The makings for a fiery duel were there early. After Franklin kicked his first courtesy of a gentle Rance push, the pair squared off. Franklin soon had his second, but the heat in their match-up wasn't done there. Franklin appeared destined for his third early in the second half, only to lash out at Rance and catch him on the throat. Match review scrutiny awaits him. Eventually, he did grab his third, but only after Rance overstepped the mark right on the stroke of three-quarter time to give away a costly 50m penalty. A fourth from long range ensured Buddy would take the chocolates in terms of their individual battle, but Rance's Tigers walked away happier.

With all the goal review bs you would think they should have had the microscope out to see if Rance overstepped the mark.
