Coughlan is finished & RFC should have traded him & not on our list this year, he is a wasted space & will never pull a Tiger jumper on again.
His injury prone & by the time he gets used of playing 4 quarter football again he will not be good enough to push out the younger players of which he once used to be. his given us no service since winning the JD medal & l class him as one of those one year players
cya Cogs thanks for the service your days are numbered, go home Tigers should have taken WA deal some years ago. Look at the money & players we have lost from not making important deals over the years when we have been down & out, Gasper, Hall, Coughlan, we could of got good trade for & brought some youngsters for the rebuild instead of pushing players out the door for no reward.
trading players to other clubs & helping paying for them players in Daffy, Holland, we always come out losers. Stafford was a good deal but we had no-one to carry his work cause lazy money hungry Ottens was not doing his part, which held the club back. Glad that prick has broken down again. Dragacevic we kept him too long & he was a good player went on the win a B&F in SA good on him
If players are long term injured for 2 seasons get rid of them first chance
some great point TM
Bentleigh we all want to see Richmond succeed but we need to be realistic and not have blind faith or stupidity. Cogs is gawn. For the kids sake and nobody else's on this forum site who have argued for him nor against him I hope to God Allmighty I will be proven wrong but the boys body is not holding up to the rigors of all he has been through and now he has 15 weeks to resurrect something that seemed so unlikely just 5 years ago. Unfortunantely its reality and it hurts but that is all there is to it. His whole career has come down to the next 15 weeks
While we are all rambling on about REALITY. here's my take on it:
Coughlan has had 2 knee constructions - 1 caused by football and 1 caused by surgical complications preventing the 1st one from healing correctly - FACT.
During his comeback he has been stalled by hamstring soreness that is a common by-product of knee surgery - FACT.
He is 25 years old - an age where the body still has a very, very strong recuperative capacity - FACT.
Over his career he has kept himself at the upper level of elite fitness - FACT.
The fitter a human body, the more likely successful recovery from illness or injury - FACT.
He suffered from OP as a young kid when first exposed to the rigours of AFL, just like a significant percentage of other kids, all of whom recover from it and either make it or don't dependant on their ability, not OP - FACT.
No-one on this forum has a functioning crystal ball that can tell us if Coughlan's injury will prevent him from becoming the player he was - FACT.
Many supporters are displaying the same level of impatience and placing the same level of unreasonable expectation on Coughlan's recovery progress as they are on the capacity of our team of kids to succeed immediately on the field - REALITY.
The truth of whether Coughlan is "gawn" or not will only be known in hindsight, probably not until near the end of this season at the earliest and quite possibly not until well into next season - REALITY.
Definition of a supporter (from "The Free Dictionary" website):
supporter - a person who backs a politician or a team etc.; "all their supporters came out for the game"; "they are friends of the library"
admirer, booster, protagonist, champion, friendCoughlan will have the best chance of a satisfactory recovery with the backing of all the Tiger "supporters" - we would do well to remember that when voicing our "opinions" and claiming them to be "reality".
