matty KNIGHTS [merged]
« on: April 25, 2008, 05:38:12 PM »
not sure if i should feel sorry 4 him being a past gr8 4us, but gees, is he really ready to try and rebuild the pathetic list he has

early in th eyr whe it didnt count he had teh bombers up and running playing gr8 footy, but the bombers have now really been exposed and the tigers are far better placed to succeed than them.

i for one was enraptured of knights' early success but now, after just round six, they will battle with melbourne for the spoon and their list is shocking

so do we feel sorry for knighter or do we say f him , he is a bomber now

There's $100 on this btw :lol.

People bag Sugar as not being a captain's proverbial but Captain diving boy is the biggest passenger in that side at the moment.

And if anything sums up the Bombers right now it is that they are still persisting with a dud like Courtney Johns and giving him a game. Well Knighter won't have a hard task dropping him thanks to the tribunal.

The problem Knighter has now is that the other coaches have cotton on to his gameplan and now have knowledge on the young Dons that they didn't have back in the NAB Cup and the early rounds. Do I feel sorry for him? A little as he's inherited a shocking list that will get worse before it gets better and he will become the scapegoat while they are down the bottom on a long rebuild.

MT l got to agree with you re; Courtney Johns
l watched this guy from day dot & seen him play a few times & he is a real dud
l expect him to be delisted or traded l'm sure Knighter is a smart man & can see what we see & think of him
Said to the wife today there is that dude Johns again & commented he should join Tarrant in the duds side  :lol  :thumbsup

Urm, Knighter got the job on the back of him saying that the list was good enough and didn't need a complete rebuild. I don't know if he really is that smart.

Nash, Winderlich, Dyson, Lovett-Murray, Johns, Slattery etc. are all very average players. They have a gaping hole in their list, and have only really started rebuilding from the Gumbleton draft.

I do feel sorry for Knighter, he seems a nice bloke and you can tell he really wants this to work. As they say though, you can't polish a turd.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

Stage 1 Head in the Sand people.
That is where Essendon are at. Injury does not help but their list is just not up to scratch and they will really really struggle over the next few years. With Port Sydney and Us yes Us in the next 3 weeks they may be 2-7 with an only saving grace being a more intense performance against the coaches old side. Will be a long few years ahead of them. This game plan of pace is just a smokescreen to get the Bomber fans believing the development is better or is occurring quicker than expected by playing a fast attractive brand of footy that is pleasing to the eye and will hopefully stun other sides early in a season, rather than using a game plan as Danny did to limit the scoreboard damage. Better quality sides such as Geelong and the Pies and the Saints have exposed this for what it is worth and sent them to the cleaners. Coaches are responsible for the way their teams ultimately play and although a champion of our club I feel no sympathy for them nor to an extent for Knighter as to sell himself to get the job he literaly sold his soul by overestimating an already ageing and youth underdeveloped side all for a couple of hundred thousand more than what he was getting coaching Bendigo so early in his coaching career when the opportunity arose.Perhaps we'll find he will never coach at AFL level again once his tenure ends or his contract is terminated much like Frawley Schwab Balme and many others before him. It has only been "Essendon Men" in the media such as Robbo and Rohan who have kept the rest of the football world from jumping down their throats and writing scathing articles with regards to their list and on field agendas. The pressure will mount. Stage 2 Fear may have arrived this afternoon or if not in the coming weeks. :lol

Geez. From the posts on Bomber Blitz I have read half are ripping into Knights and his game plan as well as his inability to be proactive in a negative situation and others  :lol :rollin :lol still think they are a top 8 side with a few blokes like Jetta and co the reason why they are getting flogged.  :whistle
Another 18 months with these type of results and I think these smarter Essendon fans will be welcoming some of these unconvinced head in the sand types into the fold and telling them I told you so but the seeds of failure and success starving will be bearing their fruit.   :clapping
