Kym's available for F/S this year CB. I haven't seen him play though so I don't know as only a Colts player whether he's good enough for a 3rd round pick but he's usually named in best players most weeks.

Missed the WA U18 side.

Not a promising sign to say the least.

Maybe late pick/rookie him?

I think that'll be closer to the mark CB. We will have less picks this year and our 3rd round will be around the 40 mark before trading so we probably won't use it on a speculative kid (as you say he didn't make the WA U18's) like we did last year with McGuane.

Here are Kym Monteath's stats for 2005. The WAFL site only has them from round 7 up to now.

Round  Kicks   HBalls   Disp   Marks In 50 Goals Behinds
7 (Colts)   17 7 24 4 - 1 -
8 (Colts) - BYE
9  (Colts)   12 6 18 2 2 1
10 (Colts)   15 11 26 1 1 1 2
11 (Colts) 12  7 19 7 - 2 -
12 (Reserves) 4 13 2 1 - -
13 (Reserves) 10  4 14 - 2 - -
14 (Reserves) 8 15 3 - - -
15 (Reserves) 3 9 3 3 2 1

Looks like there are days when he gets lots of the ball and days when he goes missing. I would just like to know what he does with the ball...are his skills up to it?

I sent an email off to the WAFL the other day asking about Kym Monteath. They had problems when they changed their stats package earlier on in the year and are trying to obtain the first 6 rounds of stats now. So hopefully they will be able to email the rest onto us.

----------------------

In regards to Kym, I can provide the following information:

Height: 181cm (at start of 2005 season)
Weight: 78kg (at start of 2005 season)
DOB: 24/07/1987
Recruited from: Rossmoyne

Kind regards,

Guys,

I have now seen Kym play a few times to continue my report on page 1 here is a summary:

He has very good disposal by foot.

Still is an outside midfielder, not a Tuck or Cogs inside midfeilder IMO

Still needs to build on his upper body strength

Is quick but not explosive.

Is he worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick yet? Possibly not yet.

I seriously think his shoulder injury last year has hindered his upper weights program this season, I think he really needs another year to build on his body size, with a bigger body he may gain more confidence in himself.

I'd like to see him follow his brother across at years end and play for coburg and perhaps have Richmond look after him, because he definately has the skill.

Thanks for that PRR  :cheers.

I hope we take our near our full quota of 6 rookies next year. Thursty shows the value of using the rookie list to find good kids that aren't ready by the time of the National draft but just need some extra time and AFL guidance to develop to their full potential. Once on the rookie list if they are any good then we get first choice at promoting them onto the senior list whereas in the VFL it's open slather in the draft despite us putting the time into developing a kid at Coburg.

not bad when you consider he has also played a few games in the reserves and as Mightytiges quoted was best on ground last weekend for East Freo in Round 19.

Like i said, dont f/s the lad but possbily snatch him in the rookie draft
