No doubt Stringer is better player and has had the better career. My point was that they wouldn't be as far off as it would be portrayed in the media and spotlight. On the outside Morton is a failed journeymen and Stringer is the "package", the Kmart Dusty, Million dollar contract man (or atleast very close) and savior of Essendon Football club.
But peel back all the rubbish. And you have
Morton avg 1.4 goals vs Stringer who was an All Australian forward with 1.7 goals a game.
Both won a flag, Morton right place right time - still gotta do the work and show and add value at highest level - aka Townshend. Stringer could argue somewhat the same at Dogs drafted right place right time.
I think with all due respect Morton was very much underated player, kicked 110 goals in a very ordinary Richmond side and a scapegoat in Wallace era albeit didn't get the best career for the talent he had and Stringer is an overrated highly talented but lazy player, who also didn't get anywhere near as much out of his career as he should. But media and commentators act like he has.
And thus finds both players not as far apart as it seems, just my opinion.
