Caro on 3aw @ 6.40pm

* Agree the Club handled the Miller situation poorly. Once again said she never underminded Miller - just criticized him. He at times was more interested in the club politics.

* She doesn't believe now there was a plan to dismiss the assistant coaches or even 2 or 3. They want more people. They wanted Voss. Mentioned Free talking to Cambo and Lambert just as the club sounded out their interest in Craig Cameron long before he decided to come across.

* Caro said Balmey would've been perfect but it's too late already as he's re-signed with Geelong for 2 more years.

* Healy says it now looks like Wallace has been isolated. Caro said Wallace is a good coach and there was never a question he wouldn't continue. She says Terry won't be going anywhere else (where it's his choice) after next year as he has said before he wants to stay at Richmond. Reckons we're improving and on the way up and if Terry has another good year next year which she expects he'll get a new 2-year contract so it doesn't matter if he's not signed up now.

* Caro thought we'd have a bad year but we've had a very good year. All assistant coaches have vowed to stayed behind Wallace.

* Caro if she was to have a bet she would bet Wallace will still be around in 2 years time and so he should.

* Russell asked Caro is Qantas should get their planes serviced by Australians or just the best people just as should Richmond get Richmond people or the best people? Caro said you need at least a couple of people with the heart and soul of the club in them. Richmond (before Free) had no Richmond people in the footy department or on the board.

* She doesn't want to talk about Miller anymore as it's not fair on him and he's been embarrassed publicly enough.

A Tiger supporter rang in at the end just before 7pm and said to Caro that Francis Bourke was/is a Richmond person and the club hit the skids around that time until now and so do we want to go through all that poor culture again of sacking coaches etc. Caro responded saying you can't compare 26 years ago to the club now as the club through Miller gave Frawley 5 years rightly or wrongly on the basis of creating stability. She said she never said all/only Richmond people but that 2 or 3 always should be involved.

Bit of a difference when Dermie, Dunstall & Co come from an era of multiple premierships

Thompson wasn't a Geelong person.
Matthews wasn't a Collingwood or Brisbane person.
Sheedy wasn't a Essendon person (unless you count him supporting them as a kid)
Parkin wasn't a bluebagger before joining Carlton.
Jeans wasn't a Hawthorn person.
Barassi wasn't a Carlton, North or Sydney person before taking on those positions.

This "Richmond people" talk is just feelgood talk. There's no substance behind it as we've seen over the past 26 years. You'd be stupid to restrict yourself to just 1/16th of the people out there especially when most of them haven't experienced what it takes to be a successful AFL club in the modern era. You employ the best people. It's a bonus if the best person happens to be a Richmond supporter.

I remember U19s coach Doug Searl who coached Knighter and a number of those who would go on to make up the core of the '95 side. (Freezer may have played U19s at Richmond too at one point IIRC). Searl won us U19 flags in 85 and 89 while the seniors were collecting spoons and got robbed of a third in the 87 GF by the North timekeeper blowing the final siren 2 minutes early as a Richmond player was running towards goal to put the Tigers in front. Anyway he was Pagan's main rival at U19 level yet unlike Pagan he was never given the opportunity to coach the Richmond seniors because he came from Fitzroy and the club wanted a "Richmond person". Heaven forbid we employ a coach the then cubs were familiar with, loved and would die for on the park  ::). This "Richmond people" talk is utter crap and can be as destructive and it could be constructive ::). You employ the best people always!

How long do you give it before there is a board challenge?

On-field results will determine that sort of thing. Hopefully for the club's sake the board gets its act together again after this stuff up and employs the right people we need for stability and for the side to succeed.

Lately I have become a big fan of Caro. She is a Richmond person through and through and will promote and defend the club every chance she has. On Fotty Classified last Monday they were all geared up to say that Richmond was destablizing itself like they have for decades etc and Caro made Hutchy, Archer & Lyon look like fools. Hutchy tried to say that it was poor that March did not come on the show that night and Caro responded that Stynes had refused a couple of weeks a go and know one on the board had said anything about that at the time.

Keep up the good work Caro. Good to have someone with some clought in media circles supporting us as a club for a change.  :thumbsup

Stripes if Caro is such a good Richmond person
why does she seem to criticise the current admin and previous admins at the club yet does not utter boo about her old mans tenure. It was during his tenure that the rot began at this football club yet she will never acknowledge it or mention it as if she is supressing it or trying to help us forget by regurgitating issues of subsequent tenures after her fathers. Her dads tenure sacked Hafey Richardson Jewell Bourke Patterson and Sproule all premiership players and two premiership coaches so it is fair to say we have been unstable with our coaches since 1976. I personally do not subscribe to the Caro Dogma nor am I willing to listen to the Caro hypocracy.
