Has better stats than someone like Brad Fisher and is a year younger as well
With Polak going down and unlikely to play again, Schulz is a required player, not surprising at all

RICHMOND has moved to secure its young playing list with a number of re-signings.

Chris Newman, Kelvin Moore, Matthew White Jack Riewoldt, Shane Edwards, Jake King, Jay Schulz, Andrew Collins, Daniel Connors and Angus Graham have all put pen to paper.

In an indication of the strength of the club's youth policy, six of the group are aged 21 and
under, with Riewoldt , Edwards and Collins still in their teens.

Football operations manager Craig Cameron said the club was thrilled to re-sign the group.

“We are investing long term in some sound talent and we are pleased that these players will be able to continue to grow and develop with the Richmond Football Club,” he said.

Club vice-captain Newman and Moore were two of the more experienced players to put pen to paper, after both played all 22 matches for the year and finished in the top five in Richmond’s Jack Dyer Medal count last month.

“We have an exciting playing group that combines youth and experience and we are all really looking forward to next year,” Newman said.

“We finished the season very strongly by winning eight of our last 11 games and we now have to build on those promising signs and consolidate our hard work.”

The Tigers will make further changes to their playing list following trade week.

often when I read forums like these i thank god that the club is not run by some of these posters

how anybody could mount an  argument for not resigning shultz with polaks status really astounds me.

listen closely, i know its hard for u at times.

I aint debating whether or not he shouldn't have been resigned, i am arguing the point why now.

you never know what other clubs would offer for him.

He could have been very handy with clubs like Buldogs, saints pies etc etc

Polak going down signalled the end of Schulz moving to another club

How about you listen to your own words a bit more closely.  Read your last line very slowly then slap yourself for posting such contradictory rot.

Angus Graham got a 2 year deal about this time last year (was reported as the case).
I'm not sure why he'd need an extension. Well, he wouldn't.  ???

he proved to be pretty handy for us too, provides some bulk and a bit of muscle to a lean albeit talented back half of Moore, Thursty and Mcguane...He's a keep for mine and TBH has a bit more versatility than Polak showed

No Petts, Casserley or Polo in that group.  Surely these guys are topics for conversation during trade week.

Being contracted doesn't stop a player from being traded. The Heffernan rule is bypassed if the player agrees to the trade and most players eventually do agree as they realise you don't want to stay at a club that doesn't want you (Josh Kennedy the latest example last year).

Angus Graham got a 2 year deal about this time last year (was reported as the case).
I'm not sure why he'd need an extension. Well, he wouldn't.  ???
Perhaps he got a year extension as I heard he's re-signed until 2010. Collo has still got another year to go on his contract and he's mentioned as well.

Heard around the traps....
Newy - 3 years
Gus - sign to 2010
King - 2 years, performance based on first year
Sugar and Bowden - one year deals each.

Guessing Moore, White, Jack, Edwards, Connors all got 2 years?

Collo - extension 2010?

Schulz - ?

That leaves Jackson, Meyer, McGuane, JON, Petts and Polo as out of contract. I would've thought Luke would've re-signed based on his good year.

As Petts did his knee last in the year it'll write off his preseason at least and most of 2009. Sounds like he'll be delisted but the club will pay for all his medical and 2009 expenses.

This news give more credance to news Cass has been delisted. Polo's future up in the air too. I guess we'll know more after trade week leading up to Oct 31. We need to delist a minimum of 3 names and so far only Tivs and Hyde are officially gone. This draft looking a bit like the 2006 one with a fair bit of depth so we'd want more than 3 picks and hence delistings to use them.
