Loved the way his Dad played.
Not so keen on Pretty Boy Jnr.
Reckon he's outside our best 22.

I didn't think he put a foot wrong all night.

I thought he got pinged a few to many times when he tried to "take them on" - his movement is pretty predictable, hence why (as I've said b4) teams have him worked out. the know which way he will go when he trys to baulk.

A couple of times the first option would have been better than trying to break the lines

That's something I had noticed in his games previously but not so much in that game.

Felt he at least tried to straighten us up when we were often being pushed wide.

I suppose he did get caught but seemed to be able to get the hand pass away when necessary. I honestly noticed others being caught more than him.

Perhaps I should re-watch the game, though I found everything except the third quarter a bit dull and frustrating. Hard to appreciate the whole story on the TV too.

raines is a limited footballer with a limited future.

He panics under pressure and his disposal is not up to the standard required.

However, I was happy to see him get back to full fitness on sunday and he did give his all. He will compete hard for the back pocket position with Jake King, may the best man win.  Both will need to improve greatly to own the back pocket in the richmond senior side IMHO

I agree with this, in an era where composure and good kicking skills will become the absolute minimum required to play in a successful side, Rainesy, King, Jackson, McGuane and Polo just to name afew, would be under the pump to keep there places on the list over the next 2 years.

For someone who was playing his first game in a year I was very happy with Andrews performance on Sunday.

I love Jake Kings passion but lets face it ....Hes too small and gets too many goals kicked on him.
If Andrew can get anywhere near his 06 form that will do me.

"Andrew Raines
Involved himself very well off half-back in his first game back from a knee injury sustained in the opening round.  Had the ball 20 times, but was inconsistent in his efficiency. Still bounces the ball too soon in his run-and-carry efforts."

Rawlings comment in his EOTT report today is another way of saying Rainesy holds onto the ball for too long and misses the first option to give off to.

I just think that Andrew needs an extended run in the team 4-6 weeks. He needs another chance and cant be judged on one game.

He has played 2 games in 2 years....has just turned 23 and has 54 games under his belt. There may be more up side to his game-just give him a chance to settle back in the line up before we throw him on the scrap heap.
