What should we get in return for Otto and from whom?

Well pick 6 and pick 20 for Brown last year was the yard stick.

I would be thinking something very close to this

It has been made clear that Otto wants to go to the Cats.

Mark Thompson is quoted in the Age as saying he thought Ottens is worth atleast a first round pick and a decent player. This is very good for us as they obviously rate him(rightly or wrongly).

What are peoples thoughts on Spriggs, Enright and the Cats first round pick.

Spriggs is an uncertainty but i think Enright can really play. Once one of the leading players at Geelong until he broke his wrsit i think it was.

"Statistically, he was Geelong’s second-best player in 2003, collecting 414 disposals (second to Cameron Ling’s 522), together with 117 marks (second to Matthew Scarlett’s 134). Was used mostly in defensive roles, but often rebounded the ball with his long, penetrating kicking. One of the few consistent players for the Cats and could be used more in the midfield in 2004. "

Spriggs - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :banghead :banghead

The last the thing the Tiges need is another player who can't kick over a jam tin and can't hit a target.

Agree with bg25 about Spriggs. He's also comeback from doing a knee.

Although Enright has just turned 23, he'll be in his late 20's by the time we see finals again. As I said in another thread I'd rather a Bartel, Kelly or even a Tenace. We need midfielders with class.

Spriggs is completely useless - I wouldn't take him for free.

I like Wojcinski and Enright, but I feel they might just be a bit too old in terms of where we are going as a club at the moment.  We need to get players that will be peaking in 5 years time, not nearing the end.  Both these players are 24 I beleive and as such they will be nearing 29 and retirement in 5 years time.

Therefore I would like to see us target either Bartel or Moloney.  Both have the hardness and skill we need. Both are about 20-21 and will be in their prime in 4-5 years time.  One of these PLUS a top ten pick.

OR a top ten pick and their first round pick (no. 16) should do it IMO.

PS.  I can't beleive we gave up picks 6 and 20 for Brown.  We will be lucky to get a similar deal for Ottens.

I agree with what others have said about Spriggs.  No thanks.

I like either of these scenarios...

Geelong: Gain - Ottens   Lose - Tenace (Coll), Pick 16
Collingwood: Gain - Tenace    Lose - Pick 7
Richmond: Gain - Picks 7, 16   Lose - Ottens

~or~

Geelong: Gain - Ottens, Pick 36    Lose - Tenace, Picks 16, 32
Richmond: Gain - Tenace, Picks 16, 32     Lose - Ottens, pick 36

We either get two more first round draft picks...

...or one first round, we up-trade our third round pick into a late 2nd round pick, and gain a bright young midfield talent.  :thumbsup

Thoughts?

You've sold me on the first one Fwoy - picks 1,4,7,16 & 20 sound good really good. We could then use pick 7 or 16 on trying to get a key defender - say a MacGuire from St Kilda.

Agree WP. Although I'd hold on to pick 7 and use it on Lewis, Monfries or Eckermann, all of whom are good inside midfielders.

The pies have offered Pretigiacomo, Shaw and pick 7 for Ottens.

Maybe we should try and get Moloney from Geelong.

This kid can play and is only 19/20 from memory.

Real hard but although i would be surprised is geelong let him go.

In other words pick 7 for Otto. Sounds like something you'd find on a Pie forum. Throw in another pick and I might then take notice.

Presti is too slow and Shaw can't kick. Sorry we've got enough of those types in our side. Similarly we should stay way from McGough. The Pies have a very average list. Only Guy Richards grabs my attention from their youth stocks.

With Rocca, Tarrant, Fraser, 3 Clokes, Richards, McKee, Wakelin and Presti, Collingwood aren't crying out for another tall unless he's a key defender.
