I've been told Petts will be playing a half in the Coburg ressies against Willy.

Pettifer returns after nine months (RFC)

Pettifer returns after nine months
richmondfc.com.au
By Mic Cullen Thu 16 April, 2009

RICHMOND forward Kayne Pettifer is set to return to the playing field this weekend, nine months after rupturing his ACL in the VFL.

Richmond football manager Ross Monaghan said Pettifer was raring to go. "He'll most likely play in the seconds – that hasn't been settled but I think he'll most likely play half a game in the twos,” he said."

"With a guy coming back from those sorts of injuries, you've got no expectations really, all you want is for them to get through some games and get some match practice, really.

"It's the natural extension from the training they've been doing.

"So as long as he gets through half a game, recovers well, maybe plays three-quarters the following week and builds it up to a full game, then you start to get some expectations of where things are.

"The early days are all just about a reintroduction to playing again, and getting some touch."

Pettifer is likely to play in the backline in order to reduce the strain on the joint.

"The normal thing with an injury like that is that you want them running in straight lines as much as you can, so you generally get them to start in defence.

"He'll probably play across half-back so he can run straight at it."

I know the named sides can mean nothing but still interesting that Vickery is named first ruck ahead of Browne.

l'm wondering how our local lad Allen is going & hope he gets on the team playing against the Cat players & see how he fairs
He is a strong mark & good kick + can be very elusive in the forward line so good luck Ryan kick some goals lad

Ex-Hawk to line up for Coburg
Brent Diamond | April 18, 2009

FORMER Hawthorn midfielder Tim Clarke has taken his speedy game to the Coburg Tigers and leads a young midfield brigade today against Geelong as an assistant coach to former teammate Jade Rawlings.

The 27-year-old, the brother of runner Georgie Clarke, was one of the fastest in time trials at the Hawks before being delisted last year. at the end of their premiership season after 96 matches.

After fielding several offers from interstate, Clarke admits friendship came into his decision to become a Tiger. "Jade's (Rawlings) a good friend of mine and he thought it would give me a good insight into what it's like to coach," he said.

"I just want to be competitive for the club. We've got a good feeling here at Coburg and we're looking forward to playing competitive footy."

Clarke said it was awkward watching his teammates from the stands as they went on to win the AFL flag last season and admitted he was trumped by a string of young Hawks for a spot in the 22.

He was one of the most respected Hawks in the playing group, given his leadership skills and racking up the club's most improved and most determined awards in 2004 and '05.

"I went and watched it with the boys. It was a good environment but it still hurt a bit not to be out there," he said.

"It was disappointing but at the end of the day, I wasn't good enough to get into the team."

Rawlings is delighted to have Clarke on board after a starring role in last week's win over Frankston.

"Clarke's been a great acquisition for our footy club. He's a super character, a great player and a very talented athlete. He's brought a lot to Coburg since he's been here," he said.
