Malthouse to Richmond on 4 year deal - 3aw
« on: May 06, 2009, 06:14:21 PM »
The source is of course flimsy at best - Langdon from 6PR. He's on 3aw tonight with Healy saying a deal to have Malthouse to Punt Rd just needs the i's dotted and t's crossed.

Langdon said there's a handshake agreement and he's right because he broke the story of Malthouse to Collingwood 10 years ago ::).

I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to Langdon and 6PR  ::). Gawd a 4 year deal as well  :P.

I personally feel this is correct! Why would Langdon come out with this and risk his credibilty(Does he have some i hear you all saying)? One thing that does concern me though, how did he find out?

Alot of utter crap comes from these WA sources GR12.
I remember Tim Gossage coming up with some doozies last year about us.
Look if its true we will find out in due course. I just think Langdon and Gossage have not been the most reliable sources in the past but I will sit and wait for now.

Hope Mick doesn't but will understand totally if he does tell Richo no more or any coach for that matter.

Not sure i want Mick after watching the pies get run over by essendon! That was bad coaching and he had the temerity to pay out the players!

Heard some of it - thought it was very funny to be honest

Karl started off by saying that his "informant"  ::) was very close to the RFC and that they (RFC) were close to a verbal agreement on Mick coaching the RFC  :o :o

Struth "close to a verbal agreement" what a joke.

Here's a tip: the RFC and yours truly are close to verbal agreement about me coaching the RFC for the next 4 years..... all they have to do is ask me  :rollin :rollin

Didn't hear the bit about a handshake, did that come after the verbal agreement bit Mr One-Eyed  ;D

Well they couldn't make up their mind. Verbal agreement, handshake, nudge nudge  ;)  ;) , .... etc. Hey it is Karl Langdon  :wallywink.

Mike was on just after Karl and he couldn't believe there'd be an agreement of any sort in round 6. Later in the year maybe as Malthouse in Mike's opinion would be a good fit for Richmond but not now. Mike said he'd surprised Gary March and Malthouse would make a deal now as there are always other people who would be in the room and they both couldn't risk a leak as it would make Malthouse's position at Collingwood untenable. Mike was also ticked off with Langdon claiming he broke the Malthouse to Collingwood story as Mike won a Quill award for the story. Good old ultra-peroxide Vanilla ice ice baby Karl Langdon :wallywink.

The other thing that makes you think this is crap is surely the club will do "due diligence" and set up an interview process to decide our next coach rather than just go "Hey Micky come back". Then again this is the RFC so anything is possible  :-X. Mick could also do a Sheeds and play off us to get a new deal at Collingwood. Is the RFC going to pay him his current $900k a year salary?  ???

Healy and Russell also wondered if Malthouse going back to Punt Rd would get Balmey back as well as footy manager.

KB and the crew on SEN were talking about Balme coming back last Sunday when the Cats were playing Bris Vegas. Their thinking was if the Cats won the flag this year then Balmey would have accomplished his mission at Geelong and they would happily release him from his contract to pursue other challenges. Furthermore they stated that Balmey lives in the Eastern Suburbs and he has a long hike to the Cattery every day and its taking its toll. Me thinks that that was considered when he applied for the job a few years back. Had Richo not had such a serious injury and being perceived as our best player and him missing now till late in the season or never to return, are we starting to get the possible bulldust scenarios? What if the Pies win the next four and we do too will Langdon like to let us know the genesis/origin of his source? WA reporters just morons, I remember Gossage and his speculation on us last year. Is there are reputable reporter nowadays? There all scum I say and sensationalist freaks with small tsoutsounes compensating b/c of that.

As a resident of Perth please believe me when I say Karl Langdon is an idiot and can not be taken seriously.

Perfect example....this time last year he was saying Cousins was going to Collingwood and it was already a "done deal".He had a one hour debate with Glen Jackovich that WAFL team Subiaco would beat WCE.As Hutchy said he is nothing but a small town "shock jock".
trying to make a name for himself.

Dont believe it.......The man has no credibility at all  :wallywink

would be tremendous if true, im of the school of thought that the RFC is a tough job (you dont say, I hear you in chorus)...that said, is no place for a rookie to cut his teeth.

I reckon there is a better than even chance he will be available...Im just not certain of our boards intent, theyre a little hard to read

Karl Langdon says Mick Malthouse is Richmond-bound (HUN)

Karl Langdon says Mick Malthouse is Richmond-bound

By Scott Gullan

FOR the past decade former West Coast forward Karl Langdon has dined out on the fact he broke the story of Mick Malthouse signing with Collingwood.

Last night Langdon was at it again, this time claiming Malthouse had verbally agreed to coach Richmond next year.

"My informant is very, very strong and has had associations with the Richmond Football Club for a long time," Langdon told 3AW's Sports Tonight program.

"My understanding is that there has been at least a verbal agreement and Mick will be going to Richmond for a four-year deal.

"Terry Wallace is a dead man walking as we all know, there is no possible way he is going to be coach of the Tigers next year.

"And as far as I am concerned Mick Malthouse is going to be the man who is going to take over as the Richmond coach, sooner rather than later."

Langdon admitted he had not spoken to Malthouse, who left the Eagles after 10 years in 1999, since he claimed credit for breaking the story about his move to Collingwood.

"Quite obviously it was a very difficult situation for him to plan to go back to Victoria where he wanted to be closer to his family at that time," said Langdon, who was centre half-forward in the 1992 Eagles premiership side.

"He had served 10 years at West Coast, 10 magnificent years, he was a wonderful coach and did a sterling job.

"Unfortunately it was very hard to keep things like that quiet, particularly in a place like this.

"But I just look at this, looking at the timing, knowing Mick Malthouse and knowing his association with the Richmond Football Club, which is one which has always been very strong and one where he had a lot of success as a player.

"I think when you look at Richmond and where they are at, it just fits, it fits like a glove as far as I am concerned."

Malthouse, 55, comes out of contract at Collingwood at the end of the season.

He has declared he will definitely continue coaching in the AFL next year.

what makes me laugh is those people who think that this is all funny and laugh at this idea, im not a big fan of micks but must admit, he is the kind of coach that wont take crap from anyone, wont let anyone tell him what he can or cannot do, unlike terry who has become very soft  since leaving the dogs.
people say that the tigers must set up an interview process, how do we know that they havent been working behind the scenes for months, as far as im concerned, the tigers have been working on terrys replacement since rnd 11 last year
