told you all he was finished mid season & would retire but its too late it hurts the club
Selfish if you ask me even thinking of playing on this year & gave us no benefit & robbed us a list spot of another player setting the club back behind others.
Staying in a development role would be the biggest mistake the club will make  :lol again as if he had anything to offer we would have benefit from it when he was captain.
My opinion he has nothing to offer the club & should stay away for a few years till things are sorted & stay around as a supporter if he loves Richmond so much
Richmond continue to make critical mistakes keeping players on the list who are not upto standard or injured & then getting rid of them mid season which is doing terrible harm to the club  :banghead  not helping it develope & catch up to other clubs. Some other big shocks are comming  ;D its not over yet, so dont any of you be surprised some people aint going to be happy with the cull but its the best interest for the club to go forward  ;D Polak, Simmonds, Richo, gone. some other names on the trade table & Bowden  :'( maybe going

It seems obvious that he loves the club, he wanted Terry gone, but it wasn't so he could prolong his career.

He was liked as a captain from what I understood, so a development role might suit him.
And you may not think I care for you

Doesn't make sense...

If Terry was gone after rnd 22 anyway why the rush? Maybe he retired because the new coach is not interested in bringing him back in? Maybe he just hated Terry for not picking him earlier in the season. I find it hard to believe that KJ went and knifed the coach and basically confirmed himself as weak as pee in a final altruistic act for the RFC.

IMHO an average footballer and certainly not a natural leader. Wouldn't have got the gig at any other club - its just ours had a chronic lack of leaders.

I am so glad he has finished as a footballer, now I say that very loosely as he wasn't a footballer he was a pretender.
But we have got the best opertunity to get rid of him and we keep him on.
Now come on get rid of him he will only drag us down.
I hate what he has done to the club as a footballer and captain and we keep crap like him there.
We make something good,(him retiring) turn out bad (by keeping him about).

thats the problem with this club which in some way is the main reason why we need a new leader who is not associated with the club in any way shape or form.

we need a new person to come in and get rid of these so called leaders and brings in their own people.

we are the laughing stock of the whole league because of decisions like keeping this pretender on our pay roll. What a joke!!

This so called leader would miss goals from 15 metres out. Yep great leader and now his in development

look lets not bash the man up because his retired
his done some tough work using his body as a blocking role to help younger players play thier roles as ball winners, the same as Tuck does every game
Johnson was a good player on his day & l'm glad to have him at our club.
Its the Richmond football club l'm angry at in the way they conduct thier buisness which is terrible to say the least
You dont sign contracts for so many years if the people cannot do the job & must be payed out
Too many players have finished far too early in the season & it helps no-one
Richo is a perfect example of his love to Richmond signing 1 year contracts & will finish if his body is not right & has always put the club first
Richo will coach Richmond one day mark my words, his a great asset
Richmond shafted many over the years & is the reason why we cant get good players & coaches down at the club
But in all thank Kane Johnson for the time his been at the club, he is a B&F winner & captain & l wish his the best for the future

Takes alot of balls to swallow and finish a career with unfinished business. For that I take my hat off to KJ.

Its pretty disappointing reading the know it alls giving him a send off after he has retired. Just really disappointing. I wasn't a Kane Johnson lover, I thought he was a little bit over rated and was given teh captaincy because he was the only choice instead of a legitimate choice. I'll be damned if I have the peanuts to use a keyboard to bash him afetr he's retired you know who you are and your a joke.

To Kane I think he's done a very right thing by the club to retire and enable a Gourdis, Gilligan the opportunity to be promoted over a farewell game that may take months to happen.

As for a development coach, a two time premiership player and former captain, name the last captain that stayed on after playing? I think it's a good sign and a way of keeping the soul down at Tigerland

We all echo he's biggest regret of not playing finals with Richmond but it's such a shame some people can't look beyond the negatives and simply be appreciative of what he's done and the hard decision he had to make.

For mine thanks for the memories Kane, bring on the kids.

Now will be interesting if Simmonds, Brown, Bowden have the heart and spheres to say "It's time to move on, time to not be selfish and do the team thing."

At least Kane has, for mine that's a leadership.

Go Tigers!

:bow :bow What Pope & monk said.
Farewell to a much maligned player who gave whatever he had for the yellow and black.
He had both good and bad days but i dont think there is any doubt that he loves the RFC :cheers
