Nathan Brown- Next year ??????
« on: July 26, 2009, 06:45:36 PM »
What does he have to do to get a contract for next year.
Would think this, IF he gets another game next week. He needs to kick 3 goals a game till the end of the year, otherwise its all over I am afraid.

He'll be at his Chapel St store selling designer t-shirts full time.
Forget about it boys.

I think the only reason he's playing is to see if we can get anything for him at the trade table
I can't see him being a Tiger next year one way or the other, Morton & Nahas have passed him

dun think he can be kept on.  with the older players, they need to show that they're actually significantly better than the younger boys.  and as far as i'm concerned, only cuz and richo fit in that group.  the rest dont' and dont' have a future.

Sadly injury has robbed Browny and us of his best  :(. He's slowed down and lost penetration in his kicking. He still has the footy smarts so close to goal he takes a good small defender which makes it easier for Nahas and Morton but I'd think this is Browny's final year. Only Cuz and Richo will be the over 30s on our list next year IMO.

Simple for mine, he has to kick goals consistently to the end of the year and as Jack said three per game  should do it

Would agree there

I think it will also depend on how he comes up this week. No point in him playing one week then missing 2 or 3

he certainly ran out of puff in the final qtr  ;D

1 year contract, he needs more game time & shows he still has that sly ability & quickness when it comes to making the quick decision.
concerns are his kicking distance & could be a libility when needed to kick a winning goal to grasp a game just like Kane Johnson failed to do.

Our average age next year would probably be the highest in the comp if we kept all the old farts you want to
Or do you want to get rid of Richo & Cousins, the only two worth keeping?

The only older players l would keep are those who have a imput nearly every week. Cousins is the best player on our list by a mile you would offer him 2 years. Richardson l would retire. Simmonds is retiring. Bowden is going anyway & will go into the draft & Johnson has gone. That leaves Nathan Brown who has 5 weeks to stamp his future & if he cant kick goals from outside 50 metres then l would retire him. Injured players are not a option anymore they should be traded or delisted. Polak, Pettifer, Coughlan. That is a possible 8 players cut from the list. Then l would chase the home sick Brent Connerly from Fremantle rookie list at 202 cm & still growing, was talking to him Saturday morning at the local footy. l would chase James Blaser from Casey Scorpions who is a tuff midfielder with good skills & can play most utility positions forward or defence & can kick goals under preasure. Has played alot of finals football & played at TAC level & also been coach by former Richmond players Brian Leys & Adrian Hickmott & currently under Peter German. Blaser has been playing senior foorball since he was 15 years old. He comes from a good football background.
Getting back to you saying l want to keep the old farts is not correct. Bowden would be in our top 22 players & should be in the side playing.
When he goes end of season so be it but there are the ones l listed above that should be gone also.
There you have my true opinion on the issue l hope this helps & closes it once & for all cause l'm tired of going over the same things.
My argument is the way Richmond treat & handle long serving players. & the constant bad decision making.
If they just dropped Gasper & said nothing he would have stuck around still helping out teaching the backline till the end of that year & everyone would have benefit from it. If he was told to leave at seasons end there would have been no problem & the players would have had the summer to get over it instead of copping it early in the season destroying the morale in the playing group & around the club.

Subject to the next 5 weeks...he should get a contract for next year...

Richo Cuz and Brown to go on...Sugar Bowden and Snake to retire for me.

When Brown gets the pill he is still classy...like the kick on his right foot yesterday...very smart footballer...

its ok that he hits up targets but we need players who can kick goals from 50+ metres on the run

Maybe 1 year, minimum wages, IF he kicks 3 goals a week.
