NOPE - As I posted in the other thread about the 2010 draw

There are NO games being played at Gold Coast Stadium in 2010.

It is being re-developed (and by gawd did it need it) in readiness for season 2011 when GC17 starts in the AFL

You already have the drafts decimating then homogenizing clubs' identities and then you not only are not able to play at your home ground for the last 40 years but have these rubbish 'exhibition' games all around the country.

The AFL claim they are probably interested in the long term growth of the game, but when clubs' differ by only the colour of their jumper the game will be poorer.

Ground rationalization homogenized footy to a great degree in Melbourne. The one thing I miss about footy from the VFL days is travelling to each of the old suburban grounds. As a kid it was an adventure as apart from the 'G and Waverley you'd only see these grounds once a year. Geelong were very lucky and smart to hold onto Kardinia Park - a distinct home ground plus control over all the revenue it generates. Our move to the 'G was smart in the mid-60s and 70s but once the AFL moved every second game to the 'G we've been treated as a club like second class citizens by both the MCC and AFL.

The Herald-Sun is saying we are playing in Darwin in either May or June but Port will be the "home" team  ???. Isn't the Darwin game meant to be one of the home games we sold?


Darwin is set to host two games, one in May and another in June.

On both occasions, Port Adelaide will be the "home" team. The Power will play Richmond and Melbourne at Marrara Oval.

MELBOURNE and Richmond will play "home'' games at Darwin's TIO Stadium in 2011.

With the official AFL draw released tomorrow, the NT News understands the Demons have been slated to play Port Adelaide in July and the Tigers are lined up to tackle the Power in May.

Melbourne's Round 17 game against the Power will be Liam Jurrah's first match for Melbourne at Marrara.

"Leaping'' Liam won the 2010 mark of the year and is set to thrill Top End fans after a brief stint with Nightcliff in late 2008.

Darwin's Aaron Davey and Tiwi islander Austin Wonaeamirri will add more Territory flavour to the Melbourne Demons side.

Wanderers cousins Marlon and Daniel Motlop and former Waratahs wingman Tom Logan know every blade of grass on the ground.

Richmond's visit in May will follow the Indigenous All-Stars game on Friday, February 4.

Exactly al, hence why I said it is a samrt deal - they keep 11 home games at AAMI (+ 1 away against the Crows) and play 2 in Darwin where they know the conditions and they've established their "brand" (hate that term) over a number of years now

I will be going because I've never been to Darwin but at this stage will give Cairns a miss and possibily one other interstate game....

My "22 games in a season" goal looks likely to cease in 2011 = NOT HAPPY
