That thing has been there for at least 5 years

More like two, but yes it's been there for a little while. Will be finished off shortly.

Awesome. Same goes McCartney. So there's the 17 listed on the website plus McCartney and Gilligan. Any idea who the other 2 are WP?

It's interesting to have McCartney.
Always thought there was good reasoning behind having a couple of youngsters who missed the drafts like most VFL clubs.
Players mentioned on here who missed out were:
Cameron Conlon (Knights, 198cm, 87kg)
Isaiah Miller (Bendigo, 187cm, 82kg)
James Tsitas (Geelong, 181cm. 78kg)

Others like Wilson, Sokol, Rioli's, Hourigan, Favretto (all SA) and Cameron, Bourne (WA) are better staying home and playing local state leagues.
As the VFL list stands at the moment we only have 4 players - Conca (23) Contin (22), Gleeson (19) and Schibeci (22) who are under 26 for next season.

The idea of having our own reserves is for the development of players already on our list and that will be the main focus of the list assembled.

We would have little to gain in taking young players that we have no hold over and developing them.

Agree, Wilson might be one whose better moving interstate though. Get himself organised and everything to prove he really wants it. Most talented guy to miss out.

Looking at the VFL team lists, I note that Geelong, Collingwood and Essendon all have 2 to 4 kids from TAC teams.
Notable that they also have extra kids outside that in their VFL development squads.
Quite likely we are yet to name kids since we are apparently taking advice from other clubs.

yeah, minimal numbers, as expect ours to be too.

where are the development squad lists? i didnt think afl clubs with their own vfl team fielded a development team as well?

Don't think any of them have development TEAMS as such, but after reading the Geelong article I think they have kids who train with them and get a few games each year.

AFL sides with strand alone VFL sides do not field development (reserve) teams

Geelong have in the past had TAC kids train with the under an "development academy" type scenario

Interestingly a couple of VFL sides; north ballarat for one one have been given the ok to not field a team in the development league. Which is massive backflip by the VFL who haven't allowed that to happen in the past
