3 years of your on the fence comments for this game, thought you were growing a set for next year!

You have said that this is the year to play finals for us, if so then this is a must win game and we have the team to do it!

I think we can do it but the Blues will be stronger and better prepared going into this season than last. They will have fewer injuries and will be better coached. The difference is though that they will also have a coach who is teaching them a new game plan they are still learning and whose focus is not just the beginning of the season but rather the end. This gives us a chance if we have improved as a team.

hopefully the focus will be more on the Blues and how they fare under Malthouse and allow us to sneak under the guard slightly
The last time we won in round 1 was Judd's first game for the Blues and with all the media hype about them. So yes let's hope history does repeat there.

I agree tigtuff that we should have greater natural development across our list than the Blues given our younger yet maturing list. We are coming from a younger (and lower) base than Carlton.  Also the Blues made few changes to their list over the offseason that will affect their 22. They were inactive during free agency and the trade period so their ins are just 18 y.o. kids. They are clearly in messiah mode - relying on Malthouse to extract more from same players Ratten put together even though their list has failed time and time again when it counts.

I am always guilty of underestimating Carlton this time of year. However it's time to exorcise the demons of 2009. Time to take the blues down and all will be well with the universe again.

We have to win round 1. No ifs, buts or maybes.
Every game against that scum is important and we  MUST win.

It will unacceptable to lose. No other game preceding this game has any importance.
It's absolutely imperative that we win. It's massive to the psyche of the club, each player and the coach that we win.
Furthermore we can't allow a former Richmond premiership player, that has already disgraced himself by coaching the filth, any joy or satisfaction from winning his first game with the CHEATS.
Its an abomination that he would even consider coaching them after having the 1980 premiership medallion around his neck.

One last thing. We must win. We have to win. We will win. Losing is not an option!

P. S. ......NO EXCUSES!
The club that keeps giving.
