Why doesn't he stand behind  afew feet behind the line. Because he's a turd that's why.
The goal ump is a turd and skata happens. That's life.

4-1 and we are comfortable now we're back in the pack.

Very last kick of the game, where are the smalls, one at the back of the pack we win the game. We have to at all cost recruit an elusive skilful forward, its so frustrating when up the other end their smalls win them the game :banghead :banghead :banghead
Yep it's our main weakness. So frustrating nearly every week seeing the ball spill down from the back and the opposition always have the numbers at ground level. Our small forwards have no idea. It may be old school but you were always taught to be front and square if playing that crumbing forward role. You don't run into the base of the pack and end up out of the play.

Speaking of old school, you were also taught to protect the goalside and centre corridor of a defensive throw-in. Not pushing numbers back at the centre bounce was also another boo-boo and reminscence of the last 2 minutes of the Gold Coast game. We didn't need 6 forwards with 1.30 mins to play.

Anyway we can't blame the last couple of mins for the loss. We lost the game in the 2nd and first half of the 3rd quarters with lazy brainless footy. The boys fought hard in the last 45 mins but once again a bad quarter or so has cost us a close game.

ps. Just seen the replay of the ball bloody hitting the goal ump when the ball was going through for a goal. You would be ticked off if that happened in a close GF. Goal umpires should stay behind the goal line.

The ball hitting the goal umpires leg certainly looked dubious, he seemed far enough away from the goal post for it to look like it would have been a goal, and a goal then changes the whole complexity of the game.

And I agree, where was our crumbing forward at the back of the pack, would have been the easiest goal of the year, as well as the winning goal.

Knowing our luck he would have run into the square and the siren went just as he was dropping the ball onto his boot.

The form of Ellis and his courage was a real highlight for me. The low-light was that Ballantyne goal - no flooding and no-one goal side  :banghead

would love to know what the rule is when the ball hits the goal umpire?
that turd must of known the ball hit him which is what prevented it from crossing the line?
poxy cheating piece of crap. surely it should have been a goal?

According to rules the umpire is an extension of the post
Clearly as thick as a post too :yep

Eade was just talking about it on fox footy. There was a coaches conference about this very issue a while ago and the afl and umpiring department instruct their goal umpires to stand like that, the coaches wanted them to stand behind the goal posts and stick their heads out to watch the play which makes a shitload more sense to me.

Two things:-
Fremantle supporters are the most ignorant, stupid afl followers in the world and that includes Sydney, Brisbane and NZ. Morons.
Mr Tigra,p you got the tackling and the pressure and we still lost!

So in another words don't bother with the tackling and pressure?

If u can't admit that we stayed in it bc of our tackling and pressure....
Exactly. Well said.    :clapping
we had 8 more tackles and 10 more contested posessions.
where they hurt us was the uncontested posessions  223-188

if it was the other way around you would be saying that we played a soft unaccountable game.

Right now I want to vent. I could not care less who played well who didn't.
I just can't get the goal umpiring howler out of my mind.
85-75 and we are home. Gamoto. :scream

Im furious too, the kolo binedes!  but im angrier at the disgraceful defending at a stoppage no less! when that little germ kicked the winning goal. The thing is if u watch the replay you'll see the contest before that it had the same feel, the dockers hunted the ball in a pack and willed it forward, we were running side by side and didnt have bodies goal side to block the run!!!! just awful

I wasn't the only one talking about our lack of defensive pressure Al.
Most experts have mentioned it all week. Richo mentioned it also during the game.
Are they are simpletons also?

That goal ump is a turd and if he was doing his job properly he would have moved out the way as the ball crossed the line.

Hes lucky someone from the crowd didn't jump the fence and smash his face in. That's life too.

Quite clearly our tackling and pressure was down in the first month, no way to dance around this. Maybe Im a simpleton but tonight it is clearly the reason we stayed in it and had a chance to pinch when in the second and 3rd quarters we only got it inside 50 13 times.
