The significance of the 20th Dreamtime game is enough for Daniel Rioli to shut-out the “negativity” around Richmond and talk of his own future, which he says isn’t on the table, as he and the Tigers try to muster the energy needed to compete with red-hot Essendon on Saturday night.

Rioli conceded his teammates were “dropping like flies” with as few as 27 fit players for first-year coach Adem Yze to pick this week with the once mighty Tigers suffering back-to-back losses in excess of 90 points for the first time in the club’s long and proud history.

Amid speculation Rioli, who is contracted for three more seasons, could be on the verge of jumping ship, with vice-captain Liam Baker also linked to a move back to Western Australia, the triple-premiership winner said now was the time to rally together, not talk about the future.

“I’m obviously contracted until 2027, but right now I’m focusing on this team and trying to get these boys better,” Rioli said on the MCG on Monday.

“Obviously, I’m a young leader myself, I’ve been in the system for nine years now, so I’m just trying to play happy footy, which I’m trying to do.

“All I’m focusing on is this year and focusing on getting this team to where we want to go, just to get better every day. Rocking up to the club with a smile on our faces.

“I love the Tiger Army. I’m not here to talk about what’s happening with me, it’s a special round, Dreamtime at the ‘G, playing against Essendon. It’s our 20th year and we get to be involved in such a big occasion.”

Richmond champion Daniel Rioli engaged to social media sensation Paris Lawrence

Richmond premiership player Daniel Rioli has announced his engagement to TikTok sensation Paris Lawrence.

The Tigers star has shared photos of the beautiful moment he got down on one knee and popped the question to Lawrence at the top of a snowy mountain.

The 27-year-old produced a show stopping proposal, hiring a helicopter to get to the top of the mountain during Richmond’s bye this weekend.

Rioli captioned his Instagram post: “FOREVER. I can’t wait to marry the woman of my dreams.”

Lawrence wrote on Instagram: “I love this man sooo much. He has the biggest & most beautiful heart, he looks after he & cares for me to the ends of the earth!

“Nothing is ever too big of an ask with him. We laugh too much, finish each others sentences, and always consider each other. I’m so lucky to call him mine and now my fiance.”

The happy couple were inundated with well wishes from friends and Rioli’s teammates.

Channel 7 presenter Abbey Holmes said: “Yay !!!! Congratulations beautiful peop️le so so happy for you xx.”

Taylor Broad, the wife of fellow Richmond champion Nathan Broad, said: “Oh my god!!!! How gorgeous. Congrats guys️ soak up all the love.”

Jayden Short said: “Congratulations that’s unreal.”

Former Richmond captain Trent Cotchin commented: “The best!! huge congrats guys.”

Rioli and Lawrence went public with their relationship in 2021 and have attended several events together including the Brownlow Medal and Richmond’s Best and Fairest award.

Lawrence has nearly 900,000 followers on TikTok and 36,000 on Instagram, and is also a DJ.

Rioli has won three premierships with Richmond in 2017, 2019 and 2020.

He previously dated Mia Fevola, the daughter of AFL great Brendan Fevola, before they split in 2020.

The Tigers have only won one game this season and celebrated Dustin Martin’s 300th game last weekend as they go through a tough rebuilding period.

The last time i looked the Rance Cotchin Riewoldt replacements should already be there and earning a spot. Our Dusty replacement should be in the system already even if not getting a regular game.

It is called succession planning and we have failed abysmally. But hey we have not had great picks and the only players left worth drafting were small forwards and flankers LOL.
