Gutted. So close :(

Yep. Very disappointing. Now we have 6 months of Claw telling us how crap we are, How we haven't drafted the right players, got the right coaches and  have no hope. I see hope in quite a few of our young guys and have to trust the coaching group that has got us to more finals than any other in our history. Roll on March 2023.

I see a lot of pain in our list if you relying on an ageing cotch and the likes of Ross.

At the end of the day you are not going to win games of footy especially elimination finals with 45 tackles.

Rubbish and that is bruise free footy.

Teague has got us playing that offensive poo that we used to lose elimination finals back in the day. Ruining us like he ruined the blues when he was coach

We blew it

Simple as that.

May sound harsh but it is a wasted season

Still bloody angry

Understand the emotion, but this is far from a wasted season. We've infused a good bunch of young players, they gained valuable finals experience and with our retirements, we have the opportunity to add some talent in the trade and draft.

I can't wait to see what Sonsie, MRJ, Ross, Gibcus, Bolton, Balta et al can develop into next season.

Complete and utter waste of a season. Why?

Because we failed at getting back to what made us great and thought kicking goals is the panacea to winning in September.

We blew it this year and it started in the pre-season with this stupid offensive game plan that doesn’t pressure the ball carrier on any consistent level.

Crap year and a choke to finish off.

17 lead changes in the #AFLLionsTigers game

The most lead changes in #AFLFinals in the last 20 years before tonight was 12.

IIRC, Ch 7 also said it was our narrowest finals loss in our history  :P.

There’s a simple truth. Whoever won tonight will lose next week. So winning is fools gold. We are nowhere near to the top 4 sides in the comp. Our clearance work was poor before Meatie went off so let’s not blame that.
I think there’s a lot to work with but that team and those 2 sides aren’t anywhere near threatening for the flag this year.
Get as angry as you like but it doesn’t change that truth.
Fix the midfield Tigers, the rest will follow.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Our season ended the way we cost ourselves a top 4 finish

That's why to me it's a wasted season

We should have finished top 4 and playing a qualifying final but we blew that

Yes we've blooded some good kids but we had a chance to do something special and we failed to do it.

We were 16 points up in the 3rd and let them back in. The stupid panic play in the last 5 minutes cost us.

So to me it is a wasted season

Despite the loss and the schoolboy mistakes, It was a bloody entertaining game.

Not how you win premierships though.

I agree with you. We need to regenerate and fix the midfield. We are way too dependent on Dion. Our rise in form was directly related to his return to the side. He is an absolute champion but he needs support. We need to have depth in that area.  I also think we paid the price for losing games that we should have won during the season. It is extraordinarily difficult to a win a premiership when you are not in the top four.

Fox Footy post-game said Brisbane scored 7.2-44 from stoppages and 5 goals from centre clearances. 4 goals 1 behind resulted from Neale's clearances  :help.

King said don't get beaten by what you know. Hardwick mentioned pre-game that we are more focused on the post-clearance and winning the ball back. King said we took a chance and we rolled "snake eyes".  Montagna said Richmond's brains trust should have put more time into Neale. At least restrict him to "normal numbers" and not 39 disposals and 15 clearances (equal second most ever in a final).

Montagna and King also agreed with many on here that the embarrassing stuff up in the defensive goalsquare that gifted Brisbane's last goal summed up Richmond's year. Defensive frailties had let Richmond down all year. They cost us a top 4 spot and now a final which sees us out.
