Not sure which thread to put this in but anyway here's Barrett's Sliding Doors column today:

IF ...
Taranto and Hopper will bolster the Tigers' midfield next year ...

THEN ...
a lot of money flies off the books. And the backline still requires an influx of talent, so too the forward line. Interesting times for this club.

Think we are actually doing both

End of 2021 we went hard at the draft with a long term vision. Players that will be the cornerstone for the next 10-12 years = re-build

2022 we are looking at trading in players in their prime to ensure we remain a finals contender while giving the group above time to develop = re-boot

Its one way to look at it.
Taranto and Hopper address serious midfield short comings.

Still think you need a healthy balance of youth actually coming thru and getting games and experience.Especially in the areas where we lack for depth.

Just think with so many at or near 30 the emphasis should be more on youth if possible.
Have never thought us or any club should overlook experienced players, there are limited  avenues open to clubs to build and maintain lists and we should be utilising all of them. Finding the balance and getting picks and trades right is what they get paid the big bucks for.
Have always been an advocate for value adding where possible as well. That means obviously looking at players with major flaws who get regular games or players who are limited in roles and the role they perform. Obviously Castagna comes straight to mind and there are a few others.
