Possessions in a game and lots of them do not mean you are elite.
Very good ball usage when ever in possession and continuously reading the play extremely well may lead a player to be elite.

Having a paddock in front of you from which a player could take the game on and move forward fast  but opting to hand ball the footy off to somebody else who is under pressure or about to be under pressure is NOT the qualities of an elite player.

Cotchin is all class and (is) could be a whole lot more, I'm just not convinced that he knows it.

I would love to see him take the game on and do a bit, not just those crappy little rubbish kicks and handballs to no one which are continuously ineffective.

Overated
Racks up nothing possessions in the back half and handballs to team mates already covered
Kicks the ball 15 metres sideways
Misses too many shots inside 50
That's only a start

Doesn't have a penetrating kick and that's why he shouldn't be bringing it out of the backline. When it's left up to him all he can rely on is his short passing and work ethic to try and cover more ground and then bang it longer to a more open man.

I love cotch and reckon at his best is one of the very best mids in the comp, he still has it in him but he's just been treading water for a while now - nigh on the most ineffectual 34 possession game Ive ever seen on the weekend.

Been carrying our midfield  since he was 20 with virtually stuff all protection from his teammates and has still had only one full pre-season out of eight. Little wonder he's starting to look a little bit ragged.

Cotch has a mongrel side to him which we all want to see in our captain.. like Selwood, Hodge, Boak.
I feel like he's gone back into his shell of trying to do everything right and please everyone.
Watched an interview on Adelaide's new coach and he was questioned on how he selected Tex as their captain.
He said he felt Tex had the attitude of, you're coming with me, Im going to make you come with me and play our way and if you dont there will be consequences.
Does anyone get this vibe from Cotch ? Nah.
Has the ability to be a great captain but needs to let loose a bit.  Not be afraid to get into blokes, not be afraid to make mistakes by taking the game on instead of chipping 15m sideways.
Needs to be ruthless.

Why do we have Chaplin trying to pump our boys up when we're down. Says it all.

Underachieving.
Was 2012 overachieving or what we should expect every week?
Frankly I want 2012.
The way we played, everything.
We have lost that 2012 fluent transition mojo.
Remember the Hawksgame and Dusty's 12 second coast to coast goal.
Dimma and the coaching staff have tinkered with something the was naturally superior and turned it to something that is average and occassionally above average.

Cotch in a nutshell.
Dusty in a nutshell.

Will cost Dimma his job at some time in the next 18 months.

Too much love for this bloke.
Too many dinky kicks, personally not a leader of men.
But then again we play like a team of girls so perhaps he is the right leader for us.
