Cotch stood out at junior level as well. I watched him a few times in the U18s and he was a class above his peers even back then. Thankfully Carlton went for Kreuzer ahead of us and we finally had learnt to not to get sucked into drafting anymore flashy outside flankers. Cale Morton was seen as a top 4 pick leading to the 2007 National Draft and had also been linked to us  :help

Best player I've ever seen pull on the jumper for the Tiges, and Friday night, I felt, was in his top 5 ever performances.
Yep, best player to pull on a Tiger jumper in the AFL era. My top 5 in the AFL era would be Cotch, Knights, Richo, Lids & Rance.
Oh wow, can you imagine? We'd actually be in worse state than Melbourne, doubt the AFL would pay for Paul Roos to coach us (nor would he want to).
Soup Campbell didn't get a gig? Joel Bowden also stiff, but I agree. I never saw Hogg play so can't tell if he was in their class.

I still can't get over that third quarter a while back when he went god mode
Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

The Sydney game?

He was unbelievable in the third. One of the best quarters I can remember from a tiger.

Knights was more damaging and was a cleaner kick than Cotchin.

Hogg was good but not top 5 that's for sure. Pretty one dimensional and even as a lead up fwd he lived in the shadow of other key fwds at the time.
.
Campbell> Bowden but neither top 5. Pickering was better than Bowden.

Would like to tender the names Weightman, Roach and Rioli if era permits

I've become a true believer in Trent Cotchin this past 11 weeks. That dude from leading teams has appeared to work miracles with him. His intent toward the Hawks leadership group was awesome.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Finally has a few blokes helping him out on a regular basis like all the other great leaders and matchwinners have always had.

Injured lads.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Would be hurting today. Was tagged heavily. Shame our idiot coaches can't effect the game in the same way with Brent Harvey.
