He will get to 300 games but he isn’t getting carried to it and I hate that this narrative is being pushed on this forum. It is really doing a disservice as to how great and selfless Cotchin is.

As I’ve said a few times now there has always been 3-4 players performing worse than him that are in line to be dropped before him.

Although I’m not sure he travels to Perth in round 13 off a 6 day break.

That first set shot was huge. Such a massive confidence booster for himself and the team.

Any love from those who wanted him dropped? Laughable those comments

What a fantastic player and game.

He deserves 300 and I hope he gets it.

Love from me, but he wasn't playing anywhere near this useful. I think he will struggle to stay in form as good as tonight but he was great. Handpass to Prestia who kicked to Jack was sensational and that snap off his left made me jump up and tell.

He’s a bloody legend and should be given a ride all the way past 300 games. See the year out and send him off with the respect, dignity and accolades he deserves for one of the best captains the game has seen.

Sorry mate but whose position was he holding back? Also the games he played poorly, everyone did including our other champions. The suns game was a disaster.

The call to get him to 300 is a correct one and he deserves it.  Champion is what he is.

I think Dow has done enough at VFL level but he hasn't even got a game when Cotch is being tested.

I don't mind taking him to 300 I just hope he can do it in style and not be embarrassed the way I thought Edwards was.

"Been looking for this vision for a while..
Enjoy this small but awesome compilation of a young, vintage #TrentCotchin from the 2011 #Dreamtime game.
The then 21 year old went on to his 1st JDM that year but I'll never forget this game. I knew we had a champion."

From the HeraldSun:

Approaching game 300, Cotchin admitted it was disappointing Hardwick would not be in charge for his milestone match

“At the end of the day, as much as it is a significant milestone, I actually hate it being about me or any individual,” Cotchin said.

“That will be what it will be.”

While it is speculated Cotchin could retire at the end of this season, the 33-year-old said he had “not really” given a lot of thought yet to his future.

“I’m literally just trying to soak up every last part of it,” Cotchin said.

“Even after we lined up pre-game and then running back to the Punt Rd end and just the cheer, even though it wasn’t the biggest crowd that I have played in front of, still sends shivers down my spine.

“I am so grateful for being able to come out here for 16 years now and play the game that I grew up loving and continue to love and try to do my best for my team.”
