Coburg vs Collingwood - Saturday May 16

Riewoldt is just as inconsistant as Tom Hawkins.....They are both kids with one having the luxury of playing in a champion team.
Jack will be one of the first picked in a couple of years.

that's right.  jack will be good. just needs more support, and in the seniors he isn't getting any up forward.

is the scott pendlebury playing for collingwood?? or do they have another one of the same name?

Regardless of todays performance cant understand why Jack was dropped, seem to have this 1 bad game and your out attitude, just leave him at AFL level  and let him learn like every other club is doing with their youth

Great win to the boys and well done, now don't get too excited with Reiwoldt. Yes he is too good for Coburg, yes he will be brilliant in years to come and yes he is a very important part of the future of this club. He does need to string at least one or two more games together like todays before he is recalled otherwise it is just too easy to get back into the side.

I went out to Coburg to watch the Burgers kick more sausage rolls than the Pies Hughes took a nice hanger early, and kicked the goal but was pretty quiet after that. There's a Tiger fan that my friends refer to as "Rumours", and not because he likes Fleetwood Mac, and he reckons that Hughes to Port Adelaide next year is a done deal. Do I believe him? Who knows.
Jack obviously played very well with a six goal haul, and Schulz, Connors and Vickery (whose ruck work was terrific all day) all did a bit too. Adam Thomson gave us a lot of drive out of the middle, and Hislop was good across half forward. Patto  took a few nice marks, and even ran an opponent down and was rewarded by the umps.
There was a funny bit of play just before 1/2 time. JON took a mark in the fwd pocket at the grandstand end, and his shot was taken across the goalmouth by the swirly breeze and dumped out on the full. This little kid in a Richmond jumper yelled out: "That's why you can't get a senior game Oakley-Nicholls", as a Collingwood player started clearing the ball up the same flank from the resultant free. But JON chased him down, won the free, and took another shot from virtually the same spot. My mate said "I bet he does exactly the same thing", but he floated it to the goalsquare this time, where I think Goldsack marked it unopposed on the 1/2 time siren. I dunno', you had to be there I suppose.

Great to see Thomson and Hislop in the best to start to justify there recruitment to the team. 

Vickery and in particular Jack's performances were the other exciting news from the day for mine.

Good to hear Vickery played well. Our ruck stocks long-term seem a lot healthier than 12 months ago.

I dunno, I think that's a pretty reasonable, it teaches players that they need to perform in every game, the odd bad one isn't acceptable. Now I know Jack is a kid, but he's become an established player this year, so his standard is set higher.

The reverse is true for the kids who are just starting out, they should be given a few weeks in the side to know that they don't need to worry about their spot, just relax and work hard. As long as they are contributing to the side they need the experience at AFL level. Jack has passed this point and his game last week for Richmond could not be considered "contributing".

He's taken his punishment, performed well at the lower level and proved he is above VFL standard now. Hopefully it makes him work harder for Richmond next week. It is pretty tough to ask a single 20 year old KPP to carry an entire AFL forward line though.

Agreed.  And I think his performance had dropped off a week or 2 prior - not just last week.

Coburg Tigers held off a fast-finishing Collingwood to clinch a 31-point win at Coburg City Oval, with Jack Riewoldt booting six in the 17.12 (114) to 12.11 (83) victory.

Coburg Tigers coach Jade Rawlings was delighted his team showed resilience in the final term against Collingwood when the Magpies threatened to steal the points, with Chris Bryan kicking his third to get within 17 points.

But the Tigers hung on through the meticulous work of Nick Liddle and Adam Thomson in the midfield.

"We did all the hard work in the third quarter to get the lead and they got a couple of quick ones but we were able to respond reasonably well and compose ourselves," Rawlings said.

"We were 2-2; it was a good win because they were in good form and it was challenging conditions that we played in.

"Nick Liddle's in terrific form. I think he's showing that he well and truly should be coming into consideration for the AFL," he said.

Jack Riewoldt finished with six, while Brad Dick kicked four for the Magpies.

The Magpies head into the break at 3-3 and content, according to coach Gavin Brown.

"We're really pleased, there's some really good signs," he said. "We just let ourselves down early. We had three or four opportunities to kick easy goals in the first quarter but let them slip and they ended up getting some soft goals."

Richmond's high-flying forward Jack Riewoldt was the match-winner up forward for Coburg with six goals.

"I think I had the confidence; it was just more about execution really and obviously today I was lucky enough to get the rewards and kick a few goals," Riewoldt said. "I think I've had an up-and-down season, but it was good to get back here and get a win."

Coburg coach Jade Rawlings said he was impressed with other key Tigers Adam Thomson, Tom Hislop and young ruckmen Adam Pattison and Tyrone Vickery.

Rewoldt kicks a few goals against a very undermanned Collingwood side & Richmond supporters want him back in the seniors
he is the standard of a VFL player, you would expect him to kick a few goals but at AFL level he struggles. He goes missing & stands around alot
until he kicks goals every week at Coburg & gains his confidence in kicking the goals he is meant to get each week than our standard will not reach the height of other clubs
Coburg should be flogging these broken teams

Story of the day was Riewoldt. Jack has really come on as a footballer. His marking is freakish.
