this kid goes alright just quietly  :shh

On what basis do you make this claim?

He has never been so much as registered at a footy club. Has never played in a game.

I have no problem with this stab in the dark, but no need to talk complete rubbish at this stage.
He was an underage basket ball state rep :shh

Which says exactly what about his football ability?
Unknown thTs why they've rookied him, he has the attributes of a rucking machine

i know i come across negative all the time. in fact lately i am , i question if i should even be posting on our sites im tht dismayed in the direction the club has taken.
thing is i really have to question this.
an 18 yr old whos never played the game.  yet we could ignore youngsters like darcy cameron.  we can give a rookie spot to one of our players cousins a kid who hasnt played the game yet we can ignore, and not even rookie  young ruckmen who have come thru elite systems  and who show plenty ffs cameron for instance was touted as the best young ruckman going around last yr.

look i can live with giving ivans cousin a go he may have some potential. but at the same time i sure as hell hope we can target and rookie list a young FOOTBALLER  like darcy cameron at the same time.
i can see it now, the recruiters and list manager sitting around the table and they go,  we dont have to look at any other ruckmen we have the 18 yo basketballer whos ivans cousin  hes bound to make it.
C'mon claw, aren't you the same bloke that advocated we mortgage the jack dyer stand to trade in Tom Lee, get a grip fella , this kid goes alright just quietly  :shh
yeah i wanted to sell the farm and rookie list him before another club saw fit to trade down piock 12 to pick 25 to get him.

you want play silly buggers bo, so be it. im happy to play along. but dont whine like a baby when you get butt hurt.

Is this the most ridiculous statement ever made on the internet?  :shh

Close ...

If you combine it with the fact he is an "elite" basketballer you have the jackpot.

The dude might be really good at basketball. But he is 9 foot tall and played for the ACT. Tipping #1 that he is the biggest guy in the ACT and #2 that there is 17 people at the ACT basketball tryouts.

I just kinda thought elite was the NBA or Europe's of this world. I'd be hard pressed conceding that the NBL is anywhere near elite.

I've just sent the RFC a pic of my nan. She reckons she wants to play AFL next year. Now I realise she's 72 years old and has never played footy before but she's built like a brick sh*thouse and when she the kicks her dog's arse it goes flying out the door so she's definitely got a good hoof on her. She's also a gun bingo player and it's well documented that they always adapt well to AFL.
Pretty sure the tiges will be impressed and rookie list her for next year. Keep your eye out folks. We might've found one.

Lets try again - there is a lot of potential upside to this recruitment and no downside.

If he's a dude then we have lost absolutely nothing.

This is a good news story not another opportunity to take a pot shot

Agree

But unfortunately, like it or not, agree with it or not, the Club by their actions this season have created the angst/anger that is directed at everything they do.

I find that sad. It would be like someone always applauding the club for ever thing they do because they had years of success.

People need to take a breath and judge each action based on its merit rather than paint everything with the same brush.

Its all about persepective - I enjoyed last weeks win but all others can say is why didn't we do that earlier in the season! Move on! If you spend your whole time focusing on ever negative then why even follow the club?! It's obviously causing you more pain than happiness so step away. If all you can do is highlight the perceived failures, losses or flaws in the club then its time you need to evaluate if its all worth it.

No one is ever going to be 100% happy with the club but if you see something to celebrate, even if it is based on potential or hope, commend it. There hasn't been much joy emulating from Richmond this year so something like this where we have nothing to lose but plenty to gain - I say be happy!  ;D

Good post Stripes  :cheers

In and of itself - recruiting from a photo is absurd, please someone at the club tell me they did some basic testing to understand his capability to adapt to AFL before signing him up. Not that hard surely.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
