Tom Browne on Ch7 said the word is Nank will likely be sent straight to the Tribunal. So that would be a minimum of 3 weeks.

Tigers back co-captain as he awaits Match Review verdict

By AAP
July 7, 2023

ANDREW McQualter won't ask Toby Nankervis to adjust his aggressive approach despite it landing Richmond's physical ruckman in hot water over a high bump on Sydney's Jake Lloyd.

Nankervis will come under scrutiny of the Match Review Officer for the hit that concussed Lloyd during the second quarter of the Tigers' 13-point win at the MCG on Thursday night.

Lloyd was flattened and play was eventually paused while he was assessed by medical staff before he jogged off the ground under their watch.

The Swans defender was substituted out before half-time and will miss next week's clash with the Western Bulldogs under concussion protocols.

Nankervis went on to be one of Richmond's most influential players as they overwhelmed Sydney after half-time, posting a victory that puts them on the verge of the top eight.

But the Tigers co-captain looks set for a stint on the sidelines, with Richmond to face West Coast, Hawthorn and Melbourne in a crucial stretch of matches over the next three weeks.

"Toby's greatest strength for a long period of time (has been) his ability to get after the ball and the opposition," McQualter said.

"Whatever comes of it comes, but we wouldn't change Toby for the world.

"I thought Toby had a great game ... as a captain he led the way with what he did, particularly in the first 15 minutes of that third quarter.

"He was really significant."

Kane Cornes has again called for a "send-off rule" to be introduced in the AFL, after Richmond captain Toby Nankervis' bump concussed Sydney's Jake Lloyd, forcing the Swan out of the game on Thursday night.

"To me, a red card would need to be a worse act than that to be sent off."

Campbell Brown doesn't think the Nankervis incident would fit into a send-off rule situation.

Did Karen call for a send-off rule after similar incidents not involving Richmond players? :shh

Toby Nankervis sent straight to the Tribunal (afl site)
« Reply #971 on: July 07, 2023, 06:17:57 PM »
RICHMOND co-captain Toby Nankervis is facing at least three weeks on the sidelines after being sent straight to the Tribunal for his high bump on Sydney's Jake Lloyd.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian graded the incident as severe impact, high contact and careless conduct.

Lloyd played on for several minutes before leaving the ground for a head injury assessment and was eventually subbed out with concussion during the 13-point loss to the Tigers on Thursday night.

He will miss next week's match with Western Bulldogs.

Nankervis went on to be one of the Tigers' best players on the night as they ran over the top of the Swans after half-time, posting a victory that puts them on the verge of the top eight.

But the Tigers co-captain is now set to miss at least three matches as his team continues its push for an unlikely finals berth.

Richmond faces West Coast, Hawthorn, Melbourne and the Bulldogs in a crucial stretch over the next four weeks.

Yeah
Think you’re correct
Lloyd being out next week doesn’t help his cause

Three would be perfect
Have him back fresh for dogs and aints

Perhaps if he does a De Goey and goes in apologetic, pleads guilty he'll just cop 3 weeks  :-\
