if we get him on the cheap then sure get him into the side. But why are we going for these 'tough big bodied' types? we have a few of these types in the team already. what we need is a classy speedster that kicks goals. I thought the lack of firepower we have when lids goes down would mean we would need another classy goalkicker

Who are these 'few' in the team already? Arnot - never really played inside mid. Thomas never really played but should have been. That's it?

sorry for late reply, weekend beekeeping. My point is that we have Thomas and Arnot in the sidelines. If a big bodied type is needed why not develop Arnot say 2 years ago? Or play Thomas more regularly? Or use Martin as a battering ram like the early part of his career. I don't think the tigers are too bad at the stoppages. but Geez sometimes I think our spread and run is beyond average.

I am not against picking this guy up on the cheap but I think the club really needs to look for fast/classy mids who can push forward to compliment Riewoldt, Lids, and Lennon.
Although I agree with you, it's a bit of a chicken and egg argument. Did the fact that we were being killed on the inside in the elimination final lead to lack of run on the outside? There's no doubt we did get beaten in both areas. This is common for us (and for others). That is to say we really drop off in the run and spread area when we get beaten on the inside.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

SEN just said that although Townsend is a delisted free agent, he'll be traded by GWS to Richmond for a late pick. Likely done today.

We delisted Arnot because he was total shyte. Geez the love for the dud is amazing. You probably haven't even seen Townsend play yet he is already tried judged and executed.
Having seen a little of both, Townsend is a far better prospect than Arnot ever has been or will be.
Seems you would rather hang onto known Hacks and not try anything new.

From Twitter

@AFLTrade: According to reports, Richmond and GWS have agreed on a trade to see Jacob Townsend go from Giants to Tigers. #AFL #AFLTrade

@AFLTrade: @AFLTrade However, Richmond will wait for a trade to be completed with Carlton for Chris Yarran before completing the trade for Townsend.
