i think it was on another forum someone posted about a comment from someone in recruiting. They said that how the very good juniors often don't develop strong defensife skills because they are the ones dominating and it needs to be installed in them when they get to AFL level
Conca is obviously being played in defence to learn these skills.
He show enough when he gets the ball to suggest he will be a good player if he makes the grade, but right now he is on a very steep learning curve indeed. Yeah, he does get caught out of position a bit, but he has a few more experienced mates.
Hopefully what we are seeing is some short term pain for some long term gain.
Agree Al but my opinion is of Conca not the more experienced guys who let us down big time.
I listened and read over the last 3 weeks re: Conca, in that he is a jet this that. Well IMO i dont see anything that he was a good recruit at this stage.
Now the year is only 3 weeks so thats all i can judge him on. He seems slow, short for a descent midfielder these days, and lacks penetration in his kick. He doesnt seem to have the smarts either.
Right now i would say Helbig seems a far better recruit than Conca.
