Considering what we offered Norf to get their first last year, and considering Cotchin, Edwards and Lambert may only have 1 or 2 years left in the game, Id be staggered if our footy department isnt considering trying to pry Jason Horne Francis out of Norf. I dont think its 100% that he goes back to SA.

What's your assessment of JHF? He any good?

Hard to tell playing for Norf.

I think he will be a gun. Even playing for N0rt he is a cut above of most on that list.

Cannot see him leaving N0rt and the end of the season

But also don't see him extending his contract this year.

I agree. In a decent side with decent coaches he will come on for sure development wise.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Here's the clip:

"Is he the next captain, or is he trade bait?"

Eddie McGuire names two clubs interested in recruiting out-of-contract Essendon star Andrew McGrath.

MCGRATH DRAWING INTEREST FROM VIC RIVALS

St Kilda and Richmond have interest in Essendon midfielder Andy McGrath, according to former Collingwood president McGuire.

The former Pick 1, who’s been touted as a future skipper of the Bombers and is part of a streamlined three-man leadership group under skipper Dyson Heppell and vice-captain Zach Merrett, comes out of contract at the end of the season.

But speaking on Channel 9’s Footy Classified, McGuire questioned whether it may be in the best interests of the Bombers to explore his trade value.

As McGrath doesn’t yet qualify for free agency, he’d need to be acquired via trade.

“Is he the next captain, or is he trade bait?” McGuire posed.

“Because I know there are two clubs who are into him at the moment.... St Kilda and Richmond.

“I think they’re looking at him very closely (and talking to his manager), and so they should because he’s a gun player.

“But is this the opportunity, because they’ve got so many of the same type, to maybe flick one out, get another player in?” What do you do in this situation?”

Former St Kilda and Fremantle coach Ross Lyon believed Merrett was more likely to succeed Heppell as captain.

“He’s not performing to a Pick 1 level as I see it,” Lyon said of McGrath.

“He was a back pocket out of the U18s, he’s never going to be a key position player and dominate a game.

“I think he’s a good solid player and he’s got great character, but if you’re not going forward as a club, maybe you cut your loss … but what are you going to get for him?

“I think Merrett’s the next captain. No one prepares better than Merrett and competes more consistently than Merrett and he’s been on the outer in leadership.

“To me, he’s got the intensity and the will and the drive to be their captain.”

Carlton is reportedly bullish on its hopes of landing unrestricted free agent Karl Amon at season’s end.

The Herald Sun reports Amon has a strong relationship with Blues coach Michael Voss, who worked alongside Amon at Port Adelaide during his seven-year tenure as an assistant coach.

Amon, 26, is being looked at by several Victorian clubs, including Hawthorn and St Kilda, with Amon’s mother Katrina recently taking up a post at the latter as Indigenous development manager.
