Interesting and valid points, tucky and MT! Can i add and could you elaborate?
A friend of mine held a coaching position at Coburg and he was very frustrated at the lack of committment he recieved from dropped senior players! He said they seemed to not care much about training and that there seemed to be a lack of accountabilty to the senior coaching panel! This relayed to me perhaps 5 years and im wondering, is this still the case? Is this what Rawlings was attemtiing to turn around?
Sorry GR12. I missed your post.
All I know is McRae when he became Coburg coach was openly very "frustrated" for want of a better word with senior Richmond players who had been dropped back to Coburg under Rawlings. I guess when certain players know their time is up that even reading them the riot act can't change a can't be stuffed anymore attitude.
Would you have cared? Rawlings dropped 5 in his first game and then spouted some bollocks that they could make it back. I didn't believe it then and neither did the players who probably knew their head was on the block.
Out: Joel Bowden, Jordan McMahon, Kayne Pettifer, Mark Coughlan, Troy Simmonds
3 are gone, 2 hang on by the skin of their teeth, Simmonds is only backup and may not get a game next year, McMahon may still be traded.
All they were playing for was a final exit game, a chance to exit with some dignity and Pettifer didn't even get that.
