They must be thinking when Simmo was injured (2007,9) we were crap but we got pummelled by the Blues in round 1 with Simmo  :P. If he's being kept as only a tall forward option then  :help.

I guess the only positive with him in the forward line is that when he keeps dropping marks, instead of costing us goals (like round 1 this year) we might crumb a few.

I'd have 3 small forwards follow him everywhere, and forget front and centre. When Simmo drops them, they go right through his hands.
And you may not think I care for you

Veteran Simmonds earns stay
Greg Denham | September 11, 2009 | The Australian

RICHMOND will offer veteran ruckman Troy Simmonds a one-year contract to continue his career in 2010 ....

The fact Richmond has extremely inexperienced ruckmen under Simmonds has earned the 31-year-old a stay.

Also in Simmonds's favour was that he was able to resume from another injury to play the final two rounds of the season where he was handy with 41 hit-outs and 29 disposals.

Richmond general manager of football operations Craig Cameron yesterday said Simmonds would be offered a new deal early next week when he returns from an overseas holiday.

"We just feel that our other ruckmen are too young to leave them to their own devices at this stage of their careers," Cameron said.

Apart from Simmonds, the Tigers big-man brigade consists of Angus Graham, 22, who has played 18 games, Tyrone Vickery, 19, who played nine games in his debut season, and Andrew Browne, 19, who played his one and only game for the club in the opening round this year.

Simmonds, who has just completed a five-year contract, will now get the chance to achieve the 200-game milestone next year in a career which started with Melbourne in 1999 and included a three-year stint with Fremantle.

Can not believe that!
He could not get a game for us this year for 8 or so weeks, so what has changed now???

Umm there was a reason for this...... he was injured for most of the year. ::)
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

you can see why though, and it is for one year. it could be low, so he has to accept it.

must be April Fools day

The thought of having to watch this fool kicking the ball 5 metres away to an opponent, for another 12 months surely must be a joke

Maybe he is a scapegoat for our younger guys performance while they are still developing.

He can be the sacrifical abuse target for 2010 to replace Jordie (hopefully)

hahahahaha

next is Schulz will be kept on.

Not a great move Hardwick and your first mistake.

W have 4 rucks. Putt, Vickery, Browne and Graham. Any one of those 4 on one leg is better than ralph macchio wannabe Simmonds.

Patto and Simmonds should be one of the first 2 to be shown the exit door.

what a effin joke

Did you watch Ade vs Ess final, Essendon without a ruck?

If we get rid of Patto + Simmo we are left with

 * Putt: rubbish
 * Vickery: 18 yoa
 * Browne: 18 yoa, rooie

you sir are the 'effin joke'

You cannot be serious about keeping Simmonds. Surely. Did you even watch him play this year.

Him in the ruck would be no different to having no ruckman, just a really crap around the ground player on top.

i do not rate Simmonds but we have no one else.

Patto and Graham are no good and very unco.

Vickery and Browne are babies and will be killed if they have to ruck against Gardiner, Sanderlands etc. next season them selfs.

Did you watch essendon vs Adelaide?

Vince got 10 center clearences, running at full speed - because Maric was rucking vs Lovett Murray.

you need someone tall to ruck  :(

That makes much more sense now, but i seem to remember him playing for Coburg?? Instead of resting injured players they must send them back to play at Coburg.  :lol
