Tom Lynch welcomed the prospect of Dustin Martin spending more time inside 50 after some ominous moments in attack in pre-season.

"He (Martin) has played deep forward quite a few times – so Jack (Riewoldt) and I have to get out of the 50 for him, clear it out," Lynch said.

"But he's obviously a superstar and we're rapt to have him up and firing and looking forward to what he'll produce Thursday night."

Sheesh apparently by club reports and team mates observations Dusty is fitter bigger and stronger than he has ever been yet he can only play as a forward.

Of course Lynch is going to talk up Dusty playing fwd he is towing the club line. Would be real worried if we are clearing out the fwd line so dusty can have it to himself.

Cmon we aren't blind or stupid we have seen how things are for ourselves.

If Dust is as fit and well as they say then he plays primarily as a mid surely.

He's listed 1kg lighter than last year (but still a couple of kg heavier than his 2017 year) so he might be trying to trim down but claw makes a good point if he's fit then he should be playing midfield majority of the time where he has a higher chance of getting to the contest.

Doesn’t need to be more or less than normal - rather what team needs and where we can exploit opposition each week.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

What did we all think of Dusty's game in his 'new' role playing more time up forward?

23 disposals (15k, 8h, 10c, 13u, 56.5% eff.)
6 marks (2 contested marks)
0 tackles
1 clearance
8 inside 50s
1 intercept
432 metres gained
5 score involvements
1 goal assist
1 goal
0 frees for
3 frees against
82% time on ground

Still in second gear.
He may kick a bag of goals in a number of games.

But most importantly once he gets his kicking skills back he’ll be setting up goals right left and centre to be the goal assist king.
The club that keeps giving.

He also did a nice kick to Jack in the pocket. Kick had too much height but it was a well disguised kick. He just has a very high football IQ

He didn't break tackles like he used to.

Zero tackles laid also.

Got unfairly pinged HTB a couple of times I thought as well.

Better than what we've seen for a while but I'd still like his ceiling to be higher.

Didnt see him starting the centre but could be wrong

it s a rolling scrum these days anyway, very little holding to positions
