Julz, it was reported down here in the one of the papers during the finals when the media was all a flutter about Dusty going to the GC

And Frankie...Then you'd love an article that's on "realestate.com" about a house near us that was auctioned on the weekend where the landlord said she had to sell it because of the govt changes in land tax.  ;D :whistle :shh :rollin

well she may be right...that levy is the biggest rort ive ever seen.

why would you invest here where you are singled out as the root of all evil, despite many being mum and dads with signifcant debt?

also do you think thats the only reason people are selling? How about living in a broke state that introdsuces new taxes for fun. QLD have a whopping zero land tax for properties bought under 1.2mil for a couple.

I dont know what dusty paid or why he is selling, but i bet they are having issues finding tenants, and are probably taking their investment north

Frankie as expected you've turned this political, all I did was raise that there is (was) and article about

BTW It isn't a levy it is a tax. A tax that's been around for ages. You are aware i'm sure that although the rates of tax are set by the state govt the actual valuation used comes from the valuation on one's council rates not the state government... But whatever....

I only raised the Landlord for the house near us and included these ;D :whistle :shh because in the article there are number of factual errors in the story. Some missing bits if you like  :shh:lol

While I get that Land tax slugs investors and for many it is something they cannot afford there are many that can afford it and are sooking about it.

But as I said whatever

From my understanding the tax has tripled  , and no surprise that’s why rents have gone up dramatically, I wonder if tenants can afford it ?

Not disputing how much LAnd Tax has gone up by. It is not payable by tenants, it's payable by owners but owners can certainly up the rent to recover it.

Had a lot to do with Land Tax in my previous life as an accountant  ;D

what you brought up is a tax so i have expanded on it. Next time dont bring up a tax in a football discoussion if you dont want to discuss it.

Also, Im well aware of land tax, but there is another Covid levy or surcharge. You know the one that only applies in this broke state for "10" years.

Surprised you didnt know this.

to answer camboons point this fee is simply passed on the tenant for land holders, and so it should.

I would think the taxes, and general demise of our citry are all contributing factors to these sell offs.

People should own less properties and the government should allow them to make bigger super contributions with tax deductions.
Stop inflating the market so much.

Land tax has more then doubled. Even the rents going up doesn't cover much. Dan Andrew's and current labour reckon it's a covid 19 recovery scheme loool so they screw the citizen after their mistakes pathetic.

When you can sell a property pay your cap gains, and get a return on the $ in interest better than a rental return less expenses of rates, taxes, agent fees, forced government inspection regulations, general maintenance, you know there is an issue.
It’s a joke.

The rumours continue  ;D

==========================
Dustin Martin image with Fox Footy powerbrokers ignites rumour mill

Dustin Martin’s future in the AFL remains under an intense spotlight with a recent image sparking rumours of a shock move.

November 12, 2024 - 7:28PM

Dustin Martin just can’t escape the spotlight.

The 33-year-old superstar announced his retirement from the AFL after playing 302 games with Richmond after the Tigers’ last game of the season.

Martin’s retirement however didn’t stop the rumour mill from spinning with the 2017 Brownlow Medal winner linked with a move to joining the Gold Coast Suns.

Speculation ran rife that he would reunite with former premiership winning coach Damien Hardwick at the Suns but those rumours have gone cold since first coming to light.

Now however Martin is back in the thick of the rumour mill with one image of him out for coffee sparking speculation of a shock career shift.

Martin was spotted in South Melbourne with Fox Footy powerbrokers in a potential sign he could be set for a move behind the microphone.

Sitting at the table with the three-time Norm Smith Medal winner was Foxtel boss Patrick Delany, Fox Sports managing director Steve Crawley, former teammate Jack Riewoldt and his manager Ralph Carr.

The images of Martin out for coffee with Fox Footy powerbrokers quickly went viral and sent the footy world into a spin.

“What’s going on here Dusty?” Dan Gorringe said on Instagram.

“Just having a coffee are ya casually? No no no, this isn’t just a coffee. This is bigger than that.

“That’s Steve Crawley the boss of Fox Sports, that’s Patrick Delany the big boss of Foxtel Group, Ralph Carr his manager and Jack Riewoldt.

“Is Dusty going to be a commentator? Is that what Fox Sports is doing here? We know they got Burgoyne from Seven, they just signed Hawkins … now we’re adding Dusty to the commentary box.

“I want to be a fly on that coffee table. I need to know what’s going on here because if Dusty is in the commentary box sign me up for that.

“Sign me up for Dusty in the commentary box.”

A notoriously media shy operator throughout his illustrious career, the move would only bolster Fox Footy’s commentary stocks.

Signing Martin would come after Shaun Burgoyne was poached from Channel 7 with Tom Hawkins also joining the ranks after hanging up the boots.

Burgoyne had been part of Channel 7’s AFL coverage since 2022, but is moving across to Fox Footy, coinciding with the start of a new landmark rights deal signed by the Foxtel Group.

In a statement, Kayo Sports said: “Burgoyne is the first of several experts expected to sign with Fox Footy in new roles next season as they bolster their ranks to maximise the opportunity the 2025 rights afford them.”

Burgoyne’s recruitment is the latest footy media switch in an off-season that has seen plenty of movement.

Luke Darcy has announced he is stepping away from his media roles with Channel 7 and Triple M.

Channel 7 have gone on a recruiting spree, poaching Nick Riewoldt from Fox Footy and luring Kane Cornes and Caroline Wilson from rival network Channel 9 in a bid to boost host broadcaster Seven’s footy analysis.

Whateley’s long-term AFL 360 co-host Mark Robinson departed the program at season’s end. Fox Footy is yet to announce Robinson’s replacement.

It’s a joke.

They want people to sell homes to free up investment properties ie air bnb to solve housing “crisis”
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
