We've turned him into an outside runner who loves getting the 1-2 ala Cotch. I miss the competitive beast he was in his first couple years.

Yep sometime late in the 4th when we had a sniff we were blessed to have Dustin coming off half back because we had the clearance machine in Grigg playing in the middle and not even to tag Selwood :banghead :banghead
Not sure why Martin can't do both? Have him in the centre bounce and around the ruckmans feet in throw ins and once play opens up let him be that outside runner. Instead we seem to want to leave him outside at all costs

I dont like what we've done to Dusty either. We've made him completely outside. He gets a million handball receives in the backline, half the time when it's unnecessary. He's forgotten how to win his own ball. In his first year he absolutely smashed the contested ball. He was like a bulldozer. Now he plays like Brent Stanton.

How to create a mediocre footballer....

Step 1 - Take one gun footballer.

Step 2 - Send to Richmond Football Club.

Step 3 - Wait.

Step 4 - Player loses all confidence turns into a Dud

Step 5 - Delist to another club

Step 6 - Player wins Brownlow at new Club

Step 3 - Wait.

Step 4 - Underachieves in 5 years at the club and is traded.

Step 5 - we trade for a recycled dud who clogs the list for another 5-7 years.

Step 6- The two players who went directly after the original selection win flags, AFLPA most valuable player, Brownlows, Colemans you name it and turn out to be what we needed in the first place.

Step 7- FJ gets a 300% pay rise.

Dusty's new nickname should be the closer. In the past two weeks, he's gone into the middle and set up crucial matchwinning goals in the last quarters. Back-to-back centres clearance late against the Pies which got us the matchwinning lead and then yesterday he first smothered Lobbe's kick at a centre stoppage which lead to one goal followed by smart play through the middle which finished up in Titch kicking the sealer.

“We’ve been encouraging him to play like the Luke Hodges of the world that use their bodies as a battering ram,” Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said on SEN.

“We think for Dustin to play his best footy, and to take his game to a new level, that’s where his game has to go.

“We’ve been really pleased.  I think he’s averaged about 13 or 14 contested balls over about the last four or five weeks.

Dusty's 3 goals from his 31 possession game last night. One of only a small few who actually turned up to play from the start.

Excellent game. Not sure where we would be without dusty.

His a pure match winner and IMO the only one we have along with Jack
