Start to wonder what's really up with Dusty..

Honestly he's possibly just over it.

Most of his best mates are the club are retired.

He's getting on.

Team is crap now.

If GCS offers him one last big paycheck it wouldn't surprise me if he goes and plays moderately good footy there for a couple of years to line his pockets.

Maybe he’s just struggling with a grumbly calf.
Who would’ve thought.  ::)

"Why are you so quick to retire players?"

"Is he prepared to dig in for another pre-season at the age of 33 in a rebuilding group?"

The #9FootyClassified panel challenges @kanecornes over his belief that 2024 should be Dusty's last season.

I don't disagree with Kane.

Need to see how the year pans out for him but at 33 and nearing 300 games he might hang them up.

We saw on the weekend how much we need youth, speed, motivation etc and despite his brilliance Dusty's best days are behind him.

Tackling numbers have absolutely plumeted since 2021.

That's how you know the motivation is waning. Body tired, less run in the legs, but generally speaking just less hungry for the chase.

Doesn't mean he isn't hungry for a contest or a scoring opportunity/assist but once those older blokes stop working off the ball it's time to hang them up IMO.

Not sure he ever had any defensive go in him lmao.

Less time around the contest = less easy tackles numbers wise.

Was sensational late last year. Hoping he is legitimately just hampered by something

All true, and he had a slow start last season too. And a lot of pundits had him in the All-Australian squad at the end of the season.

He may well decide to hang em up at the end of this season, but I'm betting he has a lot more really good football left in him. Don't write champions off too early.

I love him. You are a long time retired. I’d watch him play until 40 such is the joy I get from watching the man do his stuff.
We won’t see another like him.

I wish they would play him in the forward line against the Saints. He could easily kick a bag. He has the x factor and there are others in the forward line that can apply the defensive pressure. He is such a champion his mere presence will unsettle the Saint's defence.

It's time to turn Dusty into lethal Leigh Matthews mkIi.. play him at full forward. Could play on another 4 years
