Id rather we develop him up forward. Forwards are harder to find. Griffiths and Astbury could be sensational KPP forwards in time.  :gotigers

I dunno, I still think Post plays better forward, he kicked 4 goals on the weekend for Coburg and looked better as a forward for Richmond last year too. Astbury has played very well down back so far and would be a great CHB for us with his precise kicking and clean hands. For the team I think it could be a better structure moving forward.

With the exception of his first game, Astbury has looked better down back and got far more involved in the game.

I think Astbury is a forward. Has shown alot in the forward line IMHO.

Reads the ball really well and has strong hands taking one grab marks.

Fwd line with Astbury, Griffiths and Riewoldt will cause headaches for any opposition defence.

nice to know you have a forward than can go back if needed.
If he makes the grade he should be a good footballer.

Not flashy stats or highlights but I liked Astbury's game today from the reason he showed he has clean hands and skills for tall and is capable of playing at either end of the ground. You felt assured when he had the footy that he'd do the right thing.

Agree

Actually I was very pleasantly surprised by how comfortable he looked down back. A very handy option to have these days

this is not based on the port game.very hard for any  tall in those conditions. imo he needs a break. hasnt had a lot of ball even though hes had a decent block of games. coburg for touch and confidence and then straight back in.

He did enough to hold his spot . If he needs a break give him a week off and then play him in the seniors again.
When he gets the ball he looks like he belongs.

of course you would prefer Astbury (and all young KPP) to make it as a forward. its harder to be a AFL KPP than a backman.

however, Astbury height and kicking still is very handy in the back line at this stage //

Early days but a first year tall raking up 21 possies at 86% disposal efficiency, 5 marks, 3 bounces (meaning he runs the ball) and two 1%ers is a great effort.

Possible chance to be the rising star nominee this week you'd think.

One would hope. I thought he was really impressive. We won the game and usually the candidate they select comes from a winning team. If that is the standard then him or Nason. I think Collo might take the prize this week based on his last quarter.
