Not sure the deal with Elton. Not excited on him (admittedly based on the little I've seen) but somehow got a 2 year extension
i like Todd. Provides a tall option down back which we lack. If Chaplin is injured he should come in.

Does that deserve two years though?

One year is nothing, so two is ok.
Has done everything asked of him and regularly has shut down opposition forwards in the VFL. Not his fault that the back six in the senior level has been fixed. He and Matt Dea have been unlucky not to be played this year. So I think the club has rewarded him for his commitment.

yeah totally crrect I don't think Elton is what we need specially on a 2 year deal he has been in the system a while and u would think hed be pushing for selection but don't even think he has been mentioned as a emergency as yet.. For dea I think it is time we moved him on and id be very surprised he is still at the club next year.

One year is nothing,

Seems fitting for someone who has shown basically nothing.

Improving Richmond defender David Astbury set for thumb surgery

AFL.com.au
February 23, 2016

RICHMOND defender David Astbury will undergo minor thumb surgery after suffering ligament damage during last Friday's NAB Challenge clash against Fremantle.

Astbury, who has been one of the Tigers' standout performers this pre-season, suffered the injury in a contest with Matthew Pavlich when he went to ground.

He will be sidelined at least for Saturday's clash Hawthorn, but the club is hopeful he will return shortly, likely before the Tigers' round one clash against Carlton on March 24.

"He had some ligament damage and will need minor surgery," physical performance manager Peter Burge told the club's website.

"He’ll definitely miss this weekend, but he should be back pretty soon.”

Astbury, who struggled for form and played just four games last season, has emerged as the club's best option to support Alex Rance in the key defensive posts this pre-season.

You come from such a position of credibility when posting sarcastically about ones optimism  ::)
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
