Given a turnover of about one third of the list, you'd have to be reasonably happy
Good mix of talls, mediums and smalls, clearly focussed on kicking skills
Hard to judge until we see many of them in action next season

I'm happy overall especially since we kept our low draft picks, stuck to our youth policy, didnt draft any overage recycled's and gained players with quality disposal skills. We could have gone a bit taller but overall a pretty good mix.

Hoping this year's draft adds the last layer to the cake so we can now start to just add the icing. All depends on how these young fellows develop and our other young players drafted after 2004 but we really don't want to have to delve deeply into the next three drafts given how compromised they will be.

I think we would find it very difficult to delist another 10+ players next year unless we are not willing to wait more than a couple of years for players to come on.

The harder it is to delist, the better our list is becoming. Hopefully we are blessed with that problem at years end.

we got rid of blokes who werent up to it or not making a contribution. they have been replaced with youngsters and some of these will make it.

Very happy to have a turnover of 14 players and virtually all kids. About time. Too early to tell how well we've done. If we can get 6 decent to top quality AFL players out of the 14 then I think we'll be able to say we've done well. We'll have to wait 2-3 years at least to see if we have recruited well and how much compromised this draft was with 17 year olds excluded. The only major knock I have is we didn't recruit another ruckman knowing Simmo has one more year left. I would've had a ruckman instead of picking up 3 more smalls under 180cm.

A shame in the short-term but that's why we are where we are. A mid-age bracket that was/is too thin and with hardly any decent let alone quality footballers.

Well, at least the rest of the football world agreed with our delistings - only Patto was picked up (and JON sort of) and he was the one player I would have kept but can understand why ,as he's never going to be a super star but is a great backup  as he will prove at the saints.

there was no way we could have let Richo have until March/april to get right. It would have taken a place on the list and IIRC you cannot promote a rookie for a retired player - so whould have that wasted a list spot. Hence, why Richo did the right thing by the club and retired before the draft

Polly deserve a chance because we have a dirth of senior bodies KPP. the improvement he showed from the beginning of 2009 (running around in the coburg ressies) through to the end of 2009 (back in AFL) for me warranted another chance. The mature age rookie position is spot on

End of the day no-one wanted Jordie - so he is a tiger for at least one more year - no point wishing

the other week (actually it was the day richo retired) I watched a DVD of rich -v- Port at docklands. It was Richo's 200th game. Coughlan (and this is before his knee recos and after his OP) looked slow and his kicking to position was very poor. In 2009 he looked slower and his delivery worse - so NO he didn't deserve to be rookied and I think the fact that not one other team in the comp took a punt on him as mature age rookie about sums it up really

Patto: I really like the kid and if he'd stayed that would have been fine but they chose to de-list him. It was interesting Dimma said at the THC function a few weeks ago that with Patto it was a case of do we keep him and give him 12-16 games in 2010 or do we invest those games in young Andy BrownE. He siad they decided that long term BrownE was the better option. When I heard that I knew the Club had made the right decision
