Fringe players, FA's, DFA's, mature types & state leaguers that cost you very little, either financially and/or in terms of players/picks, that you get to fill a role. You said we lost to a side that was "choc full of them".
I meant comparable to ours not just in terms of quality but how many they have and how much they rely on them/senior games they play and injury history. (f.e. can't really see any Chris Knights injury prone type that's been brought onto Melbourne's list.)
As for Sydney under Roos - Do you think they would have been as successful had they not also been benefitting from generous concessions from the AFL? Who played in their two GF's that you consider to be genuine moneyball picks?
Roos aplication of moneyball was basically that any pick after the first round was a low chance of becoming a decent player, so he was more than happy to trade those picks for players. He felt these picks were over rated buy the football world.
so any trade he made that involved 2nd round or later picks could be "Money Ball"
From the other night's game their older/lesser quality/delisted/low cost imports were
Labumba
Dawes
vince
garlett
cross
Ben newton
Michie
Vandenberg
8 out of 22, over a 1/3 of the team
when you start talking about getting players that are injury prone, is that not down to implementation?
