:pray :pray, really in the scheme of things this year it's probably better off he gets it operated on now (if he needs it) than wait until the end of the year, that way he can start in the gym and be ready for pre-season training.

Put him in cotton wool. Our forward stocks beyond this season rest on those soldiers. Ensure he is ready for 2011 if he is badly injured.

My source is news articles that I've read but I'm not going to waste my time looking for them for you
The operation wasn't done until the end of last year and he's been playing football for about a month now, so far less than 6 months

Yeah well I've read conflicting reports and heard differently.
Anyways we await the scans..

I don't know how hard this is to comprehend. He was booked in for a reconstruction, all the news said he was going in for the procedure. However during the operation, the surgeon realised it didn't need to be done. It wasn't until afterwards that it was mentioned that he only needed a clean up. If he'd had a reco, they use industrial strength fibre like in the LARS surgury for knees, an old mate of mine had one done by Greg Hickey who is the club doctor and had it done this way. He took 6 months before he could even lift his arm over his head after the surgury.

Nothing new, but a snippet from an article on richmondfc.com.au

On a sour note for Richmond, Ben Griffiths (the Club’s second pick in the 2009 National Draft) left the field with a shoulder injury after booting two early goals.

“It was a real positive and a downer for Ben Griffiths, the way he started.  He took the first big mark of the match and was leading well,” Newett said.

“You could see that he has AFL qualities though.”
