Isnt there an annual churn rate of 10 to 20 percent. That would account for the high number. Have to admit its disappointing. Hopefully 3000-4000 of those reconsider and we can get to 50,000 members this year.

6000 members from 2010 that haven't re-signed for 2011 .... is it worth speculating why?

- It's not as if we were promised anything other than pain in 2010.
- It's not as if the club didn't deliver on the things it said it would do.

- Maybe the economy has gotten a lot worse and people can't afford memberships?
- Maybe a lot of people have changed allegiance?
- Were those 6000 all 3 game membership holders who have been holding out for the 3 gamers to be offered this year?

What are the speculations out there?
How many have died waiting for success?

All jokes aside I have that very fear. I don't want to die before I see Richmond win a flag. The way they have gone over the past 30 years made this a viable worry...and I'm still in my 30's  :o  ;)

Exciting to think we have such excellent numbers already even before we push for the finals this year  :whistle

with 18 sides in the comp in the immediate future, if the world worked fair and sqaure that would mean each club wins the flag every 18 years. Of course it doesnt work like that and there will be supporters who never get to see their team win a premiership in their life.

stuff i hope it's not richmond supporters that suffer that fate.

1 flag is all i want before i die.

But after 1 I'd probably get flag greedy and want more.

Still how long we all live will determine how many flags we see, yet the two are totally independent. Such is the mystery of life.

Correct Flagman - and Richmond's churn rate is at the lower end of the scale too

We've obviously hit it but will they continue to show it afterwards? Think we're waiting for todays 2 announcements that we have broken the 2009 record and also gained over 10,000 new members. We have probably done both already

Dear Member,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that early this morning, the Club surpassed its all-time membership record of 46,202, which was set in 2009.

It gives me equally as much pleasure to confirm that our bold target of 10,000 new members for 2011 ("Operation 10,000") has also now been reached.

These are significant achievements and, on behalf of the Club, I would like to express my sincerest thanks to you for helping us achieve these goals.

I can't help but be humbled by the amazing support for our Club. In 2010, we made a collective promise that we would take no short cuts, on or off the field. Achievement of our ambitious membership goals in 2011 ensures that our members have yet again upheld their end of the bargain.

Tomorrow, we will make a public announcement in the 'Herald-Sun', relating to our achievement. I hope when you read the announcement, you feel the same pride in the Club that I feel writing this email to you.

While our membership goals have already been met for this season, we clearly recognise a rare window of opportunity now exists to make significant inroads into our next membership landmark of 50,000 members.

Once more, please accept my personal thanks for your wonderful commitment to the Yellow and Black cause in 2011.

I look forward to continuing our exciting journey with you throughout the rest of this season and beyond.

Kind regards,

Brendon Gale
Chief Executive Officer
