I won't mind having another quality backup for our forwardline in Lynch but I believe every team needs more talented midfielders than KPP. With Griffiths showing every signs he will become an excellent forward and with players such as Post, Rance and even Westoff as backups, my feelings is we should aim for a player of the ilk of Atley or Gaff with our first pick and a ruck/forward with our next pick.

Here's a summary and some video of Tom Lynch......

Tom Lynch

Date of Birth: 31/10/92

Postion: Key Position Player

Video:  Lynch #35 for Vic Country vs SA

Strength:
- Big upside
- X-Factor
- Very athletic
- Big leap
- Versatile

Weaknesses:
- Raw
- Played only 1 season of footy
- How will it take long to develop?
- What position in the AFL?

Stats:

TAC Cup

Averages (from 11 matches in 2010)

    * 8.3 kicks (60% Effective), 6.6 handballs (75% effective)
    * 4.8 marks (1.9 contested, 2.9 uncontested)
    * 1.9 tackles
    * 1.8 goals, 0.7 behinds

Summary:

Lynch is a raw tall, but with massive upside. At 196cm, he could play on the wing similarly to Matthew Richardson. Only started playing footy seriously at start of the year when his friend Mitch Hallahan asked him to. Could be a future star but could just as easily be a bust. High risk, high reward-type selection.

Draft Range – National Draft Pick 15 – 30.

Agree and I think the club will feel similarly.
Word is that KPPs are not strong this year but mids are.
We have loaded up on tall marking options in recent drafts.
I expect it will be a mid with pick 6.

Heppell - tall mid, AA team, BOG last two finals (vs Gaff/Oakleigh last game)
Polec - sposed to be handy, playing well in South Australia

do you not like these two options?

I know you can't judge a kid by one game of highlights and I'm not saying he shouldn't be drafted at all but Lynch comes across in that video as more a 2nd/3rd round pick rather than a top 10 pick. There's something to work with (he also kicked 4 goals against Qld in the champs) but as that summary says he is raw. He's not standing out as you'd expect for a top 10 pick.

Just looking back at that mock draft it's unlikely but it would be very handy if we could somehow trade for another pick in the mid-teens. Atley, Parker/Caddy and Jacobs would alongside our existing mid group probably set up our midfield brigade for the next decade.

Good height but honestly dont know anything about him nor have i seen footage of him. can he kick with both feet???

What i do know is Gaff and Atley have been rated the best mids in the draft thus far so i would prefer to stick with the best available at this stage.

Heppell looks good from what ive seen. He has a bigger body than some of our players :banghead :banghead
what do they say about his kicking? Can he kick with his right.

sounds like he is more of a defender

Could live with that if Heppel can do the job 2/3 as good as Lids did.

Heppell was a playing as a back flank/defender earlier in his junior career but moved into the midfield in the 2nd half of the year, including the recent finals.
