Just putting here as well what Benny Gale said. The Club has put forward a couple of proposals and we've got decisions pending. He said hopefully we're not too far away from making an announcement.

Hopefully it is a long-sponsorship deal that is near the $2 million per year deal.

If Benny Gale is still spruiking the Club and what it offers publicly then it sounds like we are a long way off from signing a new major sponsor  :-\.

AFL wouldn't allow it. It conflicts domestically with the Qantas who sponsor the AFL.

It's a bit of a worry about the sponsorship.

This is the big white elephant in the room. The pressure only gets worse from here Benny Gale, better get a wriggle on.

lat time we signed a major sponsor was hot on the heels of the GFC...we are in significantly stronger economic times, i suspect we have a raft of options for our consideration...how white elephant fits beggars belief, leave the commerce to the experts chum :lol

The last time I was told to "chill" regarding a major sponsor was the day before the AIG deal fell over  :rollin :rollin

"JB Hi Fi" is one name Ive heard also heard "The Reject Shop" as a possibility.
Brisbane under Vossy would be a better fit for the Reject Shop  :D.

JB HiFi have the right colours as does the Comm Bank. Not sure if they see spending $1-2m on sport sponsorship to boost their brand and profile though given both are well known already. Mind you Dick Smith did. You would think a growing company in Oz seeking to boost its national or strong foreign company breaking into Australian market would be more interested.

Yes I can see from your response here in the quote, that I think you'd better.

Make that 2 X.  I use them a lot for my personal travel (work generally flies Virgin or Qantas) and have not had one bad experience with them that was within their control.  I fly very extensively with work and have had flights cancelled by Jetstar, Qantas, Compass (remember them?), had luggage lost by Qantas, been made to wait terminally long for my luggage on many many Virgin flights but Tiger have never let me down significantly.  I think they copped a bad wrap on that TV show where it seemed to be almost exclusively filmed in the Tiger terminal but I have never had any of those hassles with them.  I'm interested to know why Jack thinks they are a "terrible business"?

From an investment point of view, I have to agree with Jack, all airlines are terrible businesses with extremely high cost of operation for minimum investment return. I can't see them having the ability to throw lots of cash our way long term even if they are profitable. JB HiFi on the other hand, a very well run business who would benefit substantially by sponsoring a high profile club like ours and linking store discounts into club memberships would be the first thing they should do for a good ROI.
