Well Campbell needs addressing by the head coach if thats the case.

Do you think that we should judge FJ on our 1st round draft picks?

Yep, should be judged on every pick and I think his hit rate since going full time and being handed overall responsibility for drafting has been better than most.  Cops an unfair whack from many on here does FJ.

I'd love to see FJ pick up a gun pick in the later rounds even pick 19-20,  like a Fyfe or Callum Ward  :pray

Ben Griffiths and Jake Batchelor - watch this space.

Fair call, actually know people involved with both players at under age level and both highly rated - both as players but also kids with great attitudes.
Here's hoping. :thumbsup
It's that simple Spud

one thing about him and its a bit inane, rfc have him listed at 185cm there is not a hope in hell that he is 185cm. height wise looking at him i would classify him a small. having stood next to him i know hes a small.

Aren't you about as tall as Sandilands though the claw?

I thought Concs was about 182-83, good size for an inside mid, slightly bigger than Marc Murphy

Definite upgrade on Foley
sheesh i wish. im 185 shrunk a bit in old age its why i can state conca is not 185cm. id be surprised if he tops 180cm just smaking a point as so many i speak to talk about him being a lovely size.

on his yr. geez for a first yr player whos small whos had little pre season how anyone can complain about what hes done is beyond me. yep he has plenty to work on but hes hard at it looks to have tidy skills sheesh a rfc draftee with good skills. will be a genuine midfielder and he will be good both inside and out.
in saying all this i still prefer heppell always have.thats not to say both are not going to be decent players. they will.

Hey Smokey, posted this list before so it has the 04 draft included in it but you may still get the picture

2004  (first pick was Lids)
Tambling    - Gone and sh1thouse
Meyer  -  Gone
Pattison   -  Gone
Polo    - Gone
McGuane   - solid at best
Limbach    -  Who??
Mark Graham    Gone/enough said
2005    (JON)
Hughes   -  Gone
Casserly     -   Gone
2006     (Jack)
Edwards    -    No good
Conners   -   Out this week and probably in the last 5 picked in OUR side every week
Peterson  -  Gone
Collins  -   Gone
2007     (Cotchin)
Rance   -   will be a good player
Putt    -  Gone
2008      (Vickory))
Post   -  Will not make it
Hislop   -   Got to be joking!!!!
2009    (Martin)
Griffiths   -   Ok signs but not holding my breath
Astbury  -  Over rated and personally don’t think will be anything
Dea    -    Cannot see it
Taylor   -   Got to hard- Gone
Webberley  -   VFL footballer
Nason  -   Skinny, weak, wouldn’t get a game for Balwyn
Nahas  -  Good tryer, but can see why most dislike him
Browne  -   Slow, cannot see him making it
2010      (Conca)
Batchelor  -  may be OK, early signs are good but seen it before
Helbig   -   Like the kid but just a good hard at it player, no real skill
MacDonald   -   not sure
Derickx   -   not sure
Gourdis    Gone at the end of the year

Now my point was "without including our first round draft pick (which i think has been really good, except JON) we have drafted poorly"
Thats why i think FJ is an Fwit

Collins gone. (Grigg)
tambling gone. (future draft pick)

Browne is slow but v young for ruckman needs time.

Dea may fail, webberly vfl standard. But again need more time. If astbury was playing for Geelong or collingwood he wouldn't be expected to debut untill his 3rd season. Overrated is harsh.

I would go so far as
to say the 2006/08 drafties while not superstars but one of them could come good a couple years down the track as they can't all be delisted (post. Connors. Edwards.)

Have heard some comparisons around the traps with the great Benny Cousins.

I reckon this kid has it & in time will become one of our best.

High ceiling of improvement.

Humorous the guy has played less than 20 AFL games, has a NAB rising star nomination.

Will be a solid player for +200 games. Won't win a brownlow if that is what everyone is expecting.

Not sure I said he'd win a Brownlow but he's a very talented young footballer. I think he should model himself on Cousins.
What he needs to do to enter that stratosphere is work on is his gut running and strength to become the best he can be.
That' what Benny did. Busted his balls to be the best. That's what separated himself from the rest.

stuff me the knives are out.

The kid is a fine player, with a long career ahead of him.

If you watched more than 2-3 games this year you'd agree.
