Meanwhile, Richmond have given injury-riddled midfielder Reece Conca a chance to live up to his early promise by recontracting him. He is scheduled to join full pre-season training next month.
It was reported five weeks ago that the 2010 overall No 6 national draft pick had mutually split with the Tigers and that he was up for trade next week. But under a new management regime at Punt Road — headed by new general manager of football operations Neil Balme — Richmond have embraced the 24-year-old West Australian and he is back in the fold.
And he may be even more important to the Tigers’ structure if last year’s priority recruit, Chris Yarran, fails to return.
Injury and mental health issues prevented Yarran from playing a game this year, after his 119 matches with Carlton, and there are no guarantees he will be able to kickstart his career.
Conca finished the recent season playing in the VFL, following two seasons virtually ruined by severe hamstring injuries.
Richmond yesterday said he had made a full recovery from his latest hamstring setbacks.
