Going ok. Think he is overrated by many though. Has plenty of flaws to iron out yet.

On the contrary, I think hes underrated and his every mistake is magnified.
I like this post and I like batch as a player
These flaws you speak of can be ironed out in time most likely and I hope to see him cement a place in our best 22
The anywhere, anytime Tigers.

What a great game especially that first half from Batch. Took some crucial defensive marks under pressure. Hopefully a sign that last year was just second year blues and he's now ready to take that next step.

Took some really good intercept marks in the first half. Another reason why we shouldn't pay much attention to pre-season form. Petterd might be a decent running half back for us this year but he's not capable of the quality defensive efforts that Batch can produce.

Good call Coach.
Thought Rance was excellent too.

Young Richmond defender Jake Batchelor is starting to feel more comfortable in the pressure-cooker environment of AFL football.

The Tigers’ second selection in the 2010 AFL National Draft made his 31st appearance at the game’s highest level in last Thursday night’s opening round match against Carlton at the MCG, and was one of the team’s best.

He repelled a number of dangerous opposition attacking thrusts through intercept marking, which is a real feature of his game, and was proficient with his disposal out of defence.

Thought the batchelor matchup was wrong all night tbh. Found it strange a 188cm bloke was playing KPD and being horribly exposed in the air whilst we had a 195cm bloke running free (chaps).

At the game noticed he was really slow to chase Beau's lead. Then again most of our defenders weren't playing tight on their blokes much to my disappointment all night.

I think Jake is a fine defensive prospect. Rather than see him dropped to the 2's for an extended run I think it is good for the back unit: Rance / Grimes / Morris / Bachelor / Ellis to attempt to gel. I was frustrated by him losing contests at times. However its got my dammed why he is coming up against ruck man sized opposition.

Maybe they are easing Chaplin into match fitness?

Chaplin should be on a KPF.

He was almost a spare man last night.
