Jake and Grimes.

They remind me of two wandering Jews, lost in the desert of defence with no real KP to call their own.

Ability level -maybe 7

Need to build their mental strength to get the most out of what they have.

"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Batchelor interview on Talking Tigers podcast:

AUDIO: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2015-04-08/batchelor-on-talking-tigers-april-7

* For the 2013-14 preseason, I didn’t come back in the best nick so I had to work my butt off to lose a few kilos. It makes a massive difference. I worked pretty closely with [Physical Performance Manager] Peter Burge. We realised that was an area that needed improving and it’s showed so far.

* We basically left generating run out of defence up to only Bachar Houli all last year and it kind of stagnates your movement.  It’s a lot easier for oppositions to defend if you don’t have run coming out off the half-back line,” he said.  So, I think with the addition of Vlastuin, Grimes and myself adding that extra endurance to our bodies, we can help Bachar out a bit and share the load.

* [New backline coach] Ben Rutten is fantastic. A big thumbs up.  I think the fact that he’s come straight out of playing, he’s got that good balance with being a coach but he can still muck around with the boys and he’s got a wealth of knowledge. He’s played over 230 games and was an All-Australian, so he’s a great addition to us, not only to the key defenders but he knows a lot about all the half-back roles and stuff like that as well. You wouldn’t think of it from him being a big key backman but he’s told me ways to be able to get cheap, easy possessions as well. It’s just running to the contest and working your backside off.

Agree

Certainly his fault that the transition kick in 2nd qtr out to Ellis & Vlaustin was butcherd so badly by Ellis who refused to attack the ball

Thought our back six wasn't the problem at all yesterday

I have thought for a very long time now that our problems are forward of centre. You curb jack and we struggle.

maybe i was at a different game i thought Batch was more than servicable. In fact our defence stood up if you ask me.

Its forward of the defensive 50 where we have an issue and have done so for the last 2 years. Who is our forward coach now. he/she e should hand in their resignation along with peggy sue and dimwit

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Batch was good yesterday. As was most of our backline, bar maybe Houli who made a couple of howlers.

WAT doesn't like him so he just pots him regardless.

It was our forward line and our midfield  (defensively) that were/are the problem.

"most of our backline was good" is crap - rance covered the gaps
