Hardwick would've playing Stephenson while Maric was out, Derickx would still be in the magoos and we'd probably still all be complaining about him still being on the list and our failure to recruit any more ruckman during the off-season..

And we would have about the 30th best kid in the country on the list instead of banfeild

We'd still be bitching....remember this would be without having Hamspud to be comparing Derickx to....

Funny what happens when you give someone an extended run in the ones... sometimes you just have to give a sucker an even break. Criminal to not give them a fair go before delisting

Yep - watch the likes of Arnot get the arse at the end of the year whilst we use a draft pick to upgrade Thomas.

How many years did we put into Derickx?

If Thomas plays like he did last week I'd be happy to have him on the list. It's Arnots job to earn the respect of Dimma to play him. Should not just be given games because he is on the list. Neither should of Derickx. You drop chest marks in games when you get a chance, it's on you.

Yes Arnot only made 9  tackles in his last senior game - a flogging by Hawthorn that was obviously his fault. But hey as long as Grigg racked up his usual 25-odd useless possessions, zero tackles, butchered entries into the forward 50 and put on his usual fine display of elite one-way running , right?

As for Thomas - I'll take the kid with promise over the proven hack every day of the week. Most people on this board, their parents and their children would've played well against the GWS witches hats.

:lol When he dropped that chest mark against GC we were all questioning his recruitment and demanding his immediate demotion. He struggled to have an impact all year last year in the twos. No one batted an eyelid when we cut him this year. We constantly bemoan RFC players being gifted games.
But now he's getting a kick for the premiership favorites and it's all "why didn't we give him the poor man a chance?!"

Geez that Kennedy trade is a shocker. The fact they threw in McGlynn as steak knives is even funnier.

When Derickx dropped that mark I don't think anyone envisioned that even we could somehow manage to eventually replace him with someone not only even worse but also at a greater cost, yet here we are.

this is about the only thing i agree on so far on this thread.
we had to give him a decent go at some stage before cutting him.
thing is we took him as a mature recrit 23yo and he played just 2 games in his 3 yrs with us. he did nothing at all to warrant a game not a thing.
he was never going to get a game in front of maric and i can tell you all now there would have been hell to pay if he had got gifted games in front of vickery. yep the one who kept derickx out of the side is the big old softie himself.

no one can blame the club for delisting derickx he did absolutely nothing to warrant a spot.
and its freakin hilarious all the wrist slashing about him getting a game at sydney. do people actually watch players hes been shizen id sydney got thrashed in one position tonight it was in the ruck.

to me its such a shame we cant make calls like the derickx call on more players whose performances have been poor for much longer.

the bloke was absolute crap at richmond and we sure as hell made the right call in cutting him.
replacing him with hampson and useing such a good pick to get hampson was always a risk a risk i thought we should not have taken. im laughing now though at all the teeth gnashing not many were too upset or spoke up about us drafting him at the time.

finally on hampson unlike most on here i think PURELY as a ruckman at ruck contests hampson has been more than servicable. its just a shame the other areas of his  game have been so poor.
the club really did have to at the very  least rookie a young ruckman last yr. oh well.

Tom didn't perform and was cut. That's just life. FWIW I dont think he's been playing well for Sydney either.

He's playing crap for Sydney but he gets noticed more by most of us because of where he came from and we have a stick to measure his performance by.  He might have improved slightly from his RFC days but he is still crap and wouldn't be even close to a senior game if Sydney hadn't stuffed up by getting rid of Mumford.
