How lucky is this guy that he used to captain the club?
Most underwhelming player in the league over 30.

reckon if you look at the stats they back up what people are saying.
he is rarley given a job to do on dangerous forwards and quite often his opposite hurts us on the scoreboard.
hes laying just 2 .6 tackles a game, hes obtaining just 3 c/p a game. there a few 1% which implies hes not helping when he doesnt have the ball.
to top it off hes played in the middle a bit and hes going at just 14 disposals a game.
hes been played forward a bit and contributed just one goal all yr.
i can go on hes not rebounding off h/b much and hes not getting  the ball inside 50 much. his kicking is supposed to be his strength yet its not being used where we need it.
its clear hes not having any impact on games at all, its hard to see what role hes even performing.

By any measure Petterd is ahead of Chris as a player in terms of value to the senior team now.

Having said that, I would rather the ball in Newman's hands on a half back flank that Petterd's,  Numbers of possessions do not indicate good or bad decisions.
He is still fortunate to be in the team.  It really does show where we are at currently though…... :'(
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Newman kicks a few good ones and a couple of bad ones too. He's got a reputation for being a good kick but he's not that great anymore in all truth. May look prettier off the boot but misses his share of targets as much as Petterd these days.

Some of the oof by Newman this year have been horrid.
Skills have faded at the same rate as ability.
Will be handy in the ressies though where he'll have a little more time to think through things.

Chris is looking older than he really is. His body is damaged from the rigors of AFL & l'm afraid his games are numbered to less then 10. he has been used to plug too many holes over the years.

I only watched the last 2 1/2 quarters. He did some nice things.

But honestly it's time to LTI list him and promote Miles. Bring him back for a final game in the last round as we're missing the top 8...
