Apparently he's having another ripper today. 16 touches to half time.

thats good, his disposal efficiency will be off the charts bad, for most of the clubs that now overly rely on data and afl provided footage

Richmond father-son Patrick Naish stars against Allies in U18 Championships

July 6, 2017
Riley Beveridge
FOX SPORTS

RICHMOND father-son prospect Patrick Naish stole the show as Vic Metro claimed back-to-back national under 18s championships titles on Wednesday.

Playing predominantly across half back, Naish continued his fine carnival with 26 disposals and five tackles in the competition’s final match to further build his standing as a potential first-round pick ahead of this year’s draft.

Hoping to become Richmond’s seventh father-son selection — and its first since Tom Roach in 2003 — Naish showed plenty of promise at Kardinia Park.

The son of Chris Naish, who played 143 games for Richmond and 18 for Port Adelaide throughout the 1990s, Patrick was prolific and clean by foot.

The Northern Knights youngster was tested in the midfield at times and relished the additional on-ball minutes — a good sign for Richmond recruiters.

The Tigers are well placed to match a bid for Naish at season’s end, given they presently hold two first-round selections — their own (currently Pick 15) and Geelong’s (currently Pick 16), which was given to the club by GWS in a trade for veteran utility Brett Deledio last year.

Naish’s performance came despite Vic Metro being upset by the previously winless Allies, who stormed home to win by three points in a dramatic clash.

Another stand-out performance by father-son prospect Patrick Naish will have Richmond supporters excited, but there’s a downside to the exciting midfielder’s emergence this season.

Naish has been one of the stars of the AFL’s under 18s championship, leaving no doubt the Tigers will snap him up in this year’s draft, but it looks like it’s going to come at the price of a first-round pick.

Before his recent great form the club would have been thinking a second or maybe even third rounder would get the job done, but there’ll definitely be pressure put on by other clubs bidding for the offspring of 143-gamer Chris.

as long as no one in front of us nominates him in the first round we can still take 2 first rounders  from the draft and nab him at a bargain basement sum price of our next pick

If we use our first 2 picks and get Naish later (whether a "real" pick or a combination of a few later ones for points) then I think we'd have done alright...

Reckon plenty will try and force us to take him early though, a bit of payback even

Fox Footy has Naish going at 11.

11. PATRICK NAISH

Clubs: Northern/Vic Metro

Position: Half Back/Midfield

Size: 180cm, 69kg

Bio:
Richmond fans, get excited. Eligible as a father-son with the Tigers, Naish enjoyed a solid champs campaign where his standing as a genuine first-round prospect was enhanced each week. A classy and speedy ball mover off half-back, he also has the ability to push onto a wing and kick a goal. His dad Chris played 143 games for Richmond and you can expect the Tigers to match any bid for him around this position at season’s end.

At no stage we can afford to give up either of our 2 first rounders for this kid. We simply don't need the type of player he is that much unless it's for a bit of a gift, which is what the father and son pick should be IMO.

I liked Chris Naish as much as the next tiger supporter but I like the RFC more and if that means we miss out on him so be it.
We need KKP more than HBF'ers
